It’s a Week 1 AFC South battle on Sunday when the Jacksonville Jaguars visit the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium. When you go to make your online NFL betting picks – you will see the Jaguars are favorites. Jacksonville is -3 on the road, with an over/under set at 44.5.
While expectations are not high for Jacksonville, the sky’s the limit for their rookie quarterback. Former Clemson star Trevor Lawrence is set to make his debut. It’s a good start for Lawrence, as he will be facing a Houston team that has nearly zero expectations. Lawrence is the clear-cut favorite that the Jaguars sent Gardner Minshew to Philadelphia.
The Houston Texans announced they will start Tyrod Taylor at quarterback. Taylor is a journeyman. Iin 2011, Taylor was drafted by Baltimore out of Virginia Tech. The 32-year-old will look to Brandin Cooks as his top target, but many are projecting Houston as one of the worst passing teams this season.
James Robinson is set to get another workload on the offensive side of the ball for the Jaguars. Robinson will take the starting role, as Travis Etienne went out during training camp with a season-ending injury. Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson are also on the roster, but Robinson is set to receive the bulk of the carries.
The Texans’ running back room is full of names, but who is going to get the most opportunities is the biggest question mark. Rex Burkhead, Mark Ingram, David Johnson, and Phillip Lindsay are all chomping at the bit to get the first crack at it. Johnson, now 29, had a nice couple of seasons with Arizona but has fallen off over the last couple of seasons.
