Is there a changing of the guard in the AFC South?
So, after the first three weeks of the season, the Jacksonville Jaguars were supposedly the new darlings in the division, and the Indianapolis Colts were finished early. The Jags were 2-1 at that time, including a 24-0 shutout win over the Colts.
Advance to Week 6. It’s the Colts who are above the Jaguars in the standings (with that Week 1 tie against the Houston Texans). Indy has some momentum after winning two of their last three games.
Can the Colts exact revenge on the Jags, and cover the NFL betting odds?
The Jacksonville Jaguars started the season off so positively, but they appear to have hit a wall. They were leading (14-0) the Philadelphia Eagles-the league’s last undefeated team-only to blow the buffer, and the game.
While losing to the Eagles on the road is understandable, Jacksonville losing at home to the Texans (scoring just six points), was not pretty.
The Jags have to be a bit concerned about quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Signs of brilliance at times, he’s cost the team games in the last two weeks.
Try five turnovers against Philadelphia, and two more picks against the Texans. One was in the end zone, when it appeared the Jags were starting to gain some momentum.
This Jags’ team is better than last season’s, when they were the worst NFL squad. The question for those who bet online is how much better are they? it doesn’t look to be a significant change at this time.
Indianapolis flatlined after two weeks of the season, fortunate to tie the Texans in Week 1, then falling, 24-0, to these Jags. They have since turned their season around, though.
The Colts beat the Kansas City Chiefs at home in Week 3, the only team to whip KC so far. Then, after a tight loss to the Tennessee Titans, they went on the road to beat the Denver Broncos in overtime.
There’s no question that things aren’t dainty. You sort of have to plug your nose if you take them on the NFL odds. However, they appear to be heading in the right direction.
Running back Jonathan Taylor had just 54 yards (nine carries) in the first meeting, solid (six-yard) average. Indy, unfortunately, was so far behind that it had to ditch the run.
The Jags have the league’s sixth-ranked run defense. If they keep Taylor under wraps, the Colts probably won’t score that much.

Jaguars vs Colts Prediction
The Jaguars won in Week 2, but it feels like the two teams are different now. Jacksonville\ can’t really trust Lawrence to play a turnover-free game.
If you’re looking at props in the sportsbook, you might want to bet Lawrence over in interceptions this week.
At the same time, the Jags’ defense has generally performed well this season, while the Colts’ offense is still challenged. Indy has allowed more sacks than any other team, so it’s hard to bank on them helping you cash.
The under should be the play, as this should be a low-scoring affair all the way around.
