In Week 4, the Las Vegas Raiders grabbed a much-needed win against the Denver Broncos. 32-23. Against a great defense, Las Vegas had six scoring drives while it totaled 385 yards. Quarterback Derek Carr and the passing game still had ups and downs, but the rushing attack dominated. Led by running back Josh Jacobs’ 144 yards, the Raiders posted 212 rushing yards on 5.6 yards per carry.
The offense has yet to have a complete game. Most of that falls on Carr’s shoulders. His mediocre play is limiting talented targets, like wide receiver Davante Adams and tight end Darren Waller. A playoff appearance will be out of reach if Carr does not turn it around.
In addition, the red-zone offense is a big problem. The Raiders are scoring a touchdown on only 44.4% of red-zone trips (28th). That trend continued against Denver with three field goals in the red zone. This is inexcusable with two elite red zone targets: Adams and Waller.
Las Vegas’ defense comes off a solid game. Defensive end Maxx Crosby finally got help rushing the passer. Crosby had two sacks and four tackles for loss while defensive end Chandler Jones generated pressure.

Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs look as dangerous as ever after torching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 417 yards and 41 points. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes made flashy plays while the passing attack had success. The red-zone offense and run game particularly stood out.
Since 2020, few teams have had success running on the Buccaneers’ defense. Nose tackle Vita Vea and linebackers Devin White and Lavonte David have been problems for many teams.
Kansas City totaled 189 rushing yards on 5.1 yards per carry. The offensive line was excellent as running backs Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Isiah Pacheco produced yards after contact. In the red zone, the Chiefs scored touchdowns on five of six trips. Coach Andy Reid’s creative goal line play-calling becomes more impressive by the week.
The defense is also doing its part as it leads the NFL in allowed rushing yards per game (65.8). Since starting linebacker Willie Gay’s suspension, the front seven has not skipped a beat. The Chiefs hope to make another statement in the primetime spotlight.

The Raiders could find some success on the ground. Kansas City’s rush defense ranking is deceiving since it has faced poor rushing attacks. However, due to Carr’s struggles, Las Vegas does not have enough firepower to keep up. The Raiders’ greatest defensive strength is their pass rush, but the Chiefs’ offensive line is rolling.
