The Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers are set to battle it out on Sunday in Week 1 of the season. The Las Vegas Raiders won in an absolute instant classic on Monday Night Football over the Ravens. The Raiders are one of four teams in the AFC West to win their opening game. For the Steelers, they upset the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, and are looking to stay unbeaten at home. The latest NFL Odds have the Steelers -6, and a total of 48.
Derek Carr led Zay Jones into the end zone to walk off with an overtime win on Monday. It was the first catch of the night for Jones. Carr ended up with solid numbers, tossing for more than 430 yards and 2 touchdowns in the game. Carr’s top target was once again Darren Waller, with 19 targets and 10 receptions for 105 yards.
Josh Jacobs was pretty ineffective most of the game for the Raiders, but got two chances at the goal line and scored both of them. Jacobs is a little banged up with an injury, but the Raiders do expect him to play in this game on Sunday.
For Pittsburgh, going to Buffalo and winning in Week 1 was a huge boost for Mike Tomlin and the boys. The Steelers did nothing great, but everything well in their 23-16 win. Ben Roethlisberger tossed for 188 yards and a touchdown, and Najee Harris went for 45 yards, but enough was enough for Pittsburgh.
The defense for the Steelers was the big story. Holding Buffalo to just 16 points, and keeping Josh Allen to just 270 yards on 51 passes is an impressive feat. Pittsburgh will have to get ready for another pass-heavy attack on Sunday.
