The Los Angeles Rams hit the road again, this time to take on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17 of the regular season. The NFC West-leading Rams won their fourth game in a row, defeating the Minnesota Vikings 30-23 Sunday, while the Ravens were routed by Cincinnati 41-21, and lost the AFC North lead to the Bengals. Early NFL odds have the Rams at -3½, with the point total at 46½.
Los Angeles moved one game ahead of the Arizona Cardinals for the NFC West lead, but it wasn’t pretty as Matthew Stafford had one of his worst starts of the season, throwing three interceptions. Sony Michel found the end zone and rushed for 131 yards while the defense held strong to push the Rams past the Vikings on the road.
The Rams’ defense unit layed a big role in their win as they held the Vikings to 2 of 12 on third downs and picked up an interception and three sacks. They also got a huge punt return from Brandon Powell, who went 61 yards for a touchdown.
The Ravens, on the other hand, had a miserable Sunday as they lost the division lead and their fourth straight contest. The defense absolutely crumbled against the Bengals as they conceded 41 points and 575 yards of total offense. Baltimore managed three sacks but surrendered 525 yards and four touchdowns to Joe Burrow.
The offense was hit hard by COVID-19 and Lamar Jackson missed his second straight game due to an ankle injury. Baltimore was forced to turn to third-string quarterback Josh Johnson. Johnson wasn’t terrible as he produced 304 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, but the rushing attack was non-existent as they recorded a season-low 39 yards.
The Ravens should get some reinforcements back on offense when they welcome the Rams.
