Los Angeles Rams vs Cincinnati Bengals
Super Bowl LVI Rematch, Preseason Style
The Los Angeles Rams wrap up their preseason slate on Saturday with a date against the Cincinnati Bengals at 6 p.m. ET in the rebranded Paycor Stadium in Cincy.
At the face of it, this is a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl bout between the reigning NFC and AFC conference champions. In reality, it’s impossible to call it a genuine “Super Bowl rematch” when it’s set to take place against the backdrop of the NFL preseason.

The Bengals opened as the three-point home favorites on the NFL odds board and the line has held relatively intact since markets went to press. The total is projected to 38 points with the over and under juiced to -110 equally.
Read on for our NFL betting preview. We’ll check the latest stats, injury reports, and NFL predictions for the Rams vs Bengals game before capping it all off with NFL expert picks for your consideration.
Rams Split First Two Preseason Games
Head coach Sean McVay doesn’t rate preseason games. He never has. He doesn’t invest or risk his precious starters in the month of August and he doesn’t put stock in winning either.
Of course, this doesn’t mean the Los Angeles Rams don’t win in the preseason. They have. McVay is 7-10 straight up in the preseason. However, they’re inconsistent and unpredictable. For instance, his Rams finished with a 0-3 record in 2021.
This year, the Rams are 1-1 going into the final week of the preseason. The Rams opened with a 29-22 win over the Chargers at home before losing to the Houston Texans 24-20 in their second game at SoFi Stadium.

Bengals Winless In Preseason
The Cincinnati Bengals are 0-2 after two laps. They lost their home opener to the Arizona Cardinals 36-23. Then, they succumbed to a narrow 25-22 loss to the New York Giants on the road.
Head coach Zac Taylor appears to be taking a page from McVay in his approach to the preseason. Taylor is 2-7 SU in the preseason including 2022. He’s rested most of his starters and fielded mainly second- and third-tier players as he takes advantage of these games to finalize his roster decisions.
Taylor spent time with McVay in Los Angeles before taking the Cincy job a few years back, so it’s really not surprising to see him emulating his mentor in this way.
Rams vs Bengals Injury Report
LAR: Quarterback Matthew Stafford (elbow) is out until Week 1 of the regular season while wide receiver Warren Jackson (undisclosed) is on IR. Linebacker Chris Garrett (groin) and defensive back Jalen Ramsey (shoulder) are questionable for Week 1.
Cincinnati: Quarterback Joe Burrow (appendix) is out until Week 1 of the regular season, along with wide receiver Tee Higgins (shoulder). Center Ben Brown (bicep) is on IR while safety Brandon Wilson (knee) is out indefinitely.
Rams vs Bengals Head-to-Head
The Rams own the most recent victory after beating the Bengals 23-20 in Super Bowl 56 to come through as the betting online favorites in moneyline markets. It marked their second straight win over the Bengals after taking the 24-10 win on Oct. 27, 2019.
The Bengals have never beaten the Rams since they made the move from St. Louis to Tinseltown in 2016. Separately, Taylor hasn’t beaten McVay in two attempts against his friend and mentor since he took the Cincy job in 2019.

Rams vs Bengals Prediction
Stafford and Burrow aren’t expected to take any snaps – but if they do, rest assured their contribution will amount to a cameo appearance only. The same goes for other stars and team regulars, who are likely to coast on the sideline for the better part of the game.
McVay and Taylor have taken similar approaches to the preseason during their respective head coaching tenures, so it’s reasonable to expect them to continue in that similar vein. The emphasis is going to be on player performance rather than going after the game.
That said, somebody’s gotta win it. If the sportsbook betting exchange were any indication, the Bengals are the choice bet as the home favorites to win this game outright. But don’t go betting the farm on it.
The Rams are a tempting option at +3 to come up with the cover, but knowing McVay’s approach to the preseason, it’s hard to recommend this play with any confidence for NFL picks against the spread.
The total, however, practically leaps off the page as the value play of this game, especially on the over. Both teams have had no trouble scoring in the preseason, getting relatively solid play from their backups. On the other hand, caution appears to be ruling the day on the defensive side of the ball with both teams seemingly holding back and exerted little effort.
