Straight Up
The Rams are 3-1. In Week 3 they suffered a 35-32 loss to the Buffalo Bills and barely managed to put one over the New York Giants 17-9 in Week 4. The offense isn’t as efficient as it used to be and the defense isn’t nearly as dominant as they need to be. But how will LA fare against Washington?
The Football Team enters this weekend’s action with a 1-3 record. Not only that, the team has elected to bench Dwayne Haskins in favor of Kyle Allen. Allen went undrafted and has 15 NFL games to his name. Through those, Allen has 3,558 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. Although those numbers aren’t terrible, benching Haskins doesn’t make sense. After all, fans felt that the former No. 1 pick was the future of the franchise and that the team should be developing him. Ultimately Washington is a dumpster fire of an organization and I don’t see how they beat the Rams.
Against the Spread
The L.A. Rams (3-1) look to complete their 2020 sweep of the NFC East when they square off with the Washington Football Team (1-3). Washington’s defense is strong and loaded with potential, but they still give up an average of eight more PPG than L.A.’s D. The Football Team’s strength lies in its pass defense, currently ranked fourth in the NFL. Fortunately for the Rams, they have the seventh-most productive rushing attack in the league. RB Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown will have great success in our nation’s capital on Sunday.
The only two teams that score fewer points per game than the Football Team are the sorry “NY” teams that play in MetLife Stadium. Washington has demoted QB Dwayne Haskins in favor of Kyle Allen, in hopes of shaking up the offense. The Rams are no slouch vs aerial assault (8th), and will baptize Allen by fire.
The Football Team faces a difficult day vs the Rams and will be outmatched on both sides of the ball. Washington always plays with grit, but 7½ points aren’t enough.
It’s Raining Ducketts: Free ATS Pick, L.A. Rams -7½
Over/Under
The Los Angeles Rams struggled against the New York Giants (just 17 points), but their offense is averaging 26.5 points per game.
QB Jared Goff needs to be more consistent and DE Aaron Donald needs to be the dominant player we all know he is. CB Jalen Ramsey could be suspended after his fight with WR Golden Tate.
The total has gone over in four of LA Rams’ last five games on the road.
The Washington Football Team have a new starting QB in Kyle Allen. HC Ron Rivera was not pleased with Dwayne Haskins and Washington average of 19.8 points per game (third worst in the league).
Allen worked with Rivera in Carolina and if he’s not the answer veteran Alex Smith will be waiting, but he comes from a very serious injury.
The total has gone under in eight of Washington’s last twelve games against the Rams. Go under once again.
