Straight Up
The Pats rebounded from their Week 2 loss to Seattle by picking up a 36-20 win over Las Vegas this past weekend. Now they’ll be put to the test against the team to beat in the AFC. I had questioned the Chiefs’ explosiveness last week and they answered by delivering highlight after highlight in their win over the Ravens. If the Chiefs can play at that same level this weekend, I don’t see how New England can come out on top.
I’ll be sticking with the Chiefs in Week 4.
Against the Spread
The Patriots’ victory over the Raiders in Week 3 was impressive, but the Chiefs made a bigger statement vs Baltimore. Soon after leap-frogging to the top of NFL power rankings everywhere, the Ravens ran face-first into a tomahawk chop. Kansas City humbled Baltimore in their own stadium, reminding everyone just how dominant they are.
Reigning-MVP Lamar Jackson was bottled up, throwing for a miniscule 97 yards and failing to keep pace with Patrick Mahomes. The nefarious Baltimore D got shredded by Mahomes, who completed 31-of-42 passes for 385 yards and four touchdowns. Mahomes ran for a TD as well, having scored five total touchdowns on the day.
No doubt New England will hang around early on, perhaps even taking a first-half lead. However, the Chiefs are a fantastic all-around team, and are simply far too powerful for the Patriots to snipe. Kansas City wins and covers the spread, moving to 4-0.

Over/Under
The New England Patriots are fine without Tom Brady, not great, but fine.
Cam Newton is playing well, and RB’s Sony Michel, Rex Burkhead and J.J. Taylor are becoming a three-headed monster.
They average 29 points per game and the total has gone over in 5 of their last 7 games.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are one step ahead of every team in the league. Their offense is really explosive (30.3 points per game) and their resilience is uncanny.
The total has gone over in 5 of Kansas City’s last 6 games against New England. Go over in a showdown.
