New England Patriots vs Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders look to close the NFL preseason undefeated at 4-0. Coming off a 20-10 win over the Carolina Panthers, the New England Patriots are the visitors.

In Week 2 of the preseason, Mac Jones looked solid in his debut. Meanwhile, Las Vegas’ Derek Carr and Davante Adams have yet to play. Both teams are focusing on depth, meaning this will be a battle between reserves.

New England Patriots vs Las Vegas Raiders

Ahead of the 2022 season, the Patriots are the second choice (+450) to win the AFC East, and the Raiders are the underdog (+600) in a stacked AFC West.

Let’s check the latest NFL news, stats, injury reports and NFL odds for Patriots vs Raiders. We’ve plenty of NFL picks and predictions for you to consider.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are ramping up for the regular season. Against the Panthers, New England played most of its starters on offense. Jones went 4/8 with 61 passing yards in limited action, and starting running back Damien Harris totaled 18 rushing yards on three carries. At wide receiver, DeVante Parker and Jakobi Meyers reeled in one catch.

Blocking could be a major problem. The offensive line struggled against Carolina in every way. Starting tackles Trent Brown and Isaiah Wynn were out. However, the interior O-line did not look good. Cole Strange and David Andrews are expected to start, both struggled.

Behind Harris, running backs are competing for James White’s former role. At this point, it looks like Ty Montgomery will be a big piece. He had four rushes and one reception last game.

Elsewhere, linebacker Mack Wilson continues to impress. Jahlani Tavai started at linebacker and did not look good. Keep an eye on New England’s linebackers; they’re a work in progress.

Las Vegas Raiders

It’s unlikely Adams debuts in the final preseason game. The Las Vegas Raiders sat most offensive starters against the Dolphins. However, we got a preview of the offensive line. This could be an issue.

Remember when Las Vegas reached on Alex Leatherwood in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft? He stumbled in his rookie season, and now, Leatherwood could be on the bench. Against Miami, the Raiders started rookie Thayer Munford and Jermaine Eluemunor at the tackle spots. Leatherwood did not play until the second half and played poorly.

Jarrett Stidham and Nick Mullens were competing for the backup QB spot. However, Vegas traded Mullens to the Minnesota Vikings on Monday. Stidham will get plenty of time against New England.

Defensive end Tashawn Bowser continues a great offseason. Against the Dolphins, Bowser had a sack and two tackles for loss. The Raiders’ pass rush will be even better with added depth.

Patriots vs Raiders Injury Report

For the most part, New England’s injury report looks clean. Backup wide receiver Tyquan Thornton is out. WR Kristian Wilkerson is questionable. Also, veteran cornerback Malcolm Butler is on the Injured Reserve list.

For the Raiders, Darren Waller is questionable. Linebacker Micah Kiser and defensive end Jordan Jenkins are on the Injured Reserve list.

Patriots vs Raiders Head-to-Head

The Patriots have won six consecutive games against the Raiders. In 2020, New England covered with a 36-20 win.

Patriots vs Raiders Prediction

As the spread suggests, this is a tough game to pick. Neither team is playing many starters, especially the Raiders. Both offenses will likely stumble with weak offensive lines and backups leading the way.

The Patriots could continue to play key players in positional battles, particularly at running back and linebacker. Look for New England to cover, spoiling Vegas’ undefeated preseason.
