Dwindling Playoff Hopes
The New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals entered the 2022 season with playoff aspirations. After six weeks, both teams are in must-win situations to keep their playoff hopes alive on the TNF odds. Poor defensive play is hindering the Saints (2-4), while the Cardinals (2-4) cannot find consistency on offense. Both teams will return big contributors for Thursday night’s battle.
Let’s check the latest NFL odds, stats, injury reports, and NFL lines for Saints vs Cardinals. We’ve plenty of Vegas NFL odds for you to consider.
New Orleans Saints
Ahead of Thursday Night, the New Orleans Saints could have a quarterback controversy. Starting quarterback Jameis Winston has missed the last three games with a back injury. In his stead, Andy Dalton has been solid.
He does not have flashy numbers, but Dalton has two turnovers in three starts, compared to Winston’s five in three starts. In Week 6, New Orleans had its first game of the season with no turnovers. With Winston, the Saints averaged 17 points. Since Dalton took over, New Orleans is totaling 30 points per game.
There is no denying the offense has played better with Dalton starting. Winston is questionable for Thursday, but Dalton could start no matter what. This is certainly something to keep an eye on.
Make sure to check out the injury report ahead of the game. Along with Winston, cornerback Marshon Lattimore and wide receivers Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry are questionable. The Saints’ lead wideout, Chris Olave, is expected to return from a concussion.
After allowing 30 points over the last three games, the defense must vastly improve. Even with the offense’s improvement, the defense has been too much to overcome.
Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals offense is severely underperforming. After ranking 10th in points per game last season, Arizona is 22nd in the same category this season. In addition, the Cardinals’ yards per play have dropped from 16th in 2021 to 31st in 2022.
Superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is set to make his return in Week 7 after serving his six-game suspension. This should bring a boost to the passing offense.

Unfortunately, as soon as Arizona gained a receiver, it lost one. Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was excelling through six games and averaged 93.5 receiving yards in the last four games. In Sunday’s 19-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Brown suffered a foot injury that is expected to keep him out for about six weeks.
On Monday, the Cardinals traded for the Carolina Panthers’ wide receiver Robbie Anderson. While Anderson could replace some of Brown’s production, playing on Thursday is unlikely.
The defense is becoming a bright spot. Since Week 3, Arizona is allowing only 18.8 points per game. Plus, the pass rush has become far more productive, totaling nine sacks since Week 4.
If the Cardinals are to make a comeback in the NFC West, quarterback Kyler Murray needs to play better. With his mediocre play, Murray does not look like a $230 million quarterback.

Thursday night football odds could finally deliver an entertaining game. While both teams are 2-4, these are talented squads capable of far better. This should be a hard-fought contest as both teams scratch and claw to keep their playoff hopes alive.
As mentioned, Hopkins’ return should do a lot for Arizona’s passing attack. Plus, wide receiver Rondale Moore and tight end Zach Ertz have played well.
