The New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots are set to meet in Week 3 of the season. Both teams will enter with a 1-1 record, but with very different Week 2 outcomes. The Saints lost on the road in Carolina, while the Patriots are celebrating their first win over the Jets. Looking over the latest NFL Betting Odds, the New England Patriots are field-goal favorites with a total of 43.
The Saints laid an egg in Week 2. After smashing the Packers the opening weekend, many expected the Saints to come out of the gates strong at Carolina. That did not happen, and New Orleans took the loss. Jameis Winston was not very good for the Saints, with just 111 yards on 11 of 22 passing, and no touchdowns. The quarterback was picked off twice in the game.
Alvin Kamara was almost nonexistent for the Saints. The stud running back carried the ball eight times for a laughable five yards in the game. Kamara did catch four passes for 25 yards as well. New Orleans is dead last in the NFL in yards per game, with just 240.5 through the first two games of the season.
For New England, their rookie quarterback Mac Jones hasn’t been spectacular, but has led the Pats’ offense well enough to start .500. The former Alabama signal-caller is 51 of 69 on the season for just a single touchdown, but has yet to throw an interception. In the win over the Jets, Jones threw for 186 yards but used the running backs to get into the end zone.
James White and Damien Harris got the scoring party started, with touchdowns in the first and third quarter. Nick Folk nailed three field goals in the win as well. The Patriots’ defense has been solid in the early going, allowing just 11.5 points per game.
