The New York Jets (1-3) will square off with the Atlanta Falcons (1-3) on Sunday in London for Week 5 of NFL action. The Jets secured their first victory in a 27-24 overtime win against the Tennessee Titans.
At the same time, the Atlanta Falcons were defeated in a back-and-forth contest by the Washington Football Team 34-30. Las Vegas NFL Odds have the Atlanta Falcons as the slight -3½ favorite with the point total set at 44.
The New York Jets won their first game of the Zach Wilson/Robert Saleh era when they outlasted the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. No. 2 overall pick Wilson played a big part in the win, finishing with 297 yards and two touchdowns, and will have a favorable matchup against an unreliable Falcons defense.
First-year coach Saleh and the Jets flustered Titan quarterback Ryan Tannehill all day. The New York defense was stellar against the pass and forced Tannehill to get rid of the ball. Overall, the defense totaled seven sacks.
The Falcons were in the driver’s seat against the Football Team with an eight-point lead. However, the defense couldn’t stop some late magic from quarterback Taylor Heinicke and allowed two touchdown passes in the final five minutes.
In total, the defense recorded only one sack and allowed 122 yards on the ground while yielding 290 yards and three passing touchdowns. They’ll look to rebound against a Jets offense that’s averaging a league-worst 11.8 points per game.
Conversely, Atlanta’s offense was outstanding. Quarterback Matt Ryan was masterful, delivering four touchdown passes, including three to running back Cordarrelle Patterson. Overall the offense moved the ball well but was overshadowed by conservative fourth-quarter play-calling and bad defense.
