Hard Knocks to Come?
The Philadelphia Eagles were able to make the playoffs last year, a pleasant surprise for an organization that was heavily questioned entering the 2021 NFL campaign.
The Detroit Lions were once again one of the two worst teams in the NFL. They lost 13 games – including a 44-6 loss to the Eagles. However, they were scrappy at times and have optimism for 2022.

Should you ride with the Lions on the NFL betting odds or is their offseason and the Hard Knocks hype a mirage?
Let’s check the latest NFL picks, news, stats, injury reports, and NFL odds for Eagles vs Lions. We’ve plenty of NFL predictions for you to consider.

Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts gets another year with the Philadelphia Eagles and the reports from preseason camp (and the team’s preseason games) are positive. Hurts seemed to be throwing the ball with a lot of zip and decisiveness.
That’s great news for the Eagles, who now need to see Hurts play – and throw – decisively in live action, particularly intense, high-stakes late-game situations.
Hurts needs to evolve as an NFL quarterback and he now has better weapons to work with thanks to the trade for A.J. Brown. However, keep in mind that the Eagles were better last season when they ran more and kept Hurts from throwing a ton.
In November and December, Hurts only threw for six touchdowns while tossing five picks. He completed 17 passes or less in seven of his final eight games last season.
If the Eagles run the ball with success, they’ll have the balance they need to succeed. Those who bet online aren’t sure if that’s the team we’ll see, though.
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions think this is the year they step forward and become, if not a factor in the NFC playoff race, at least a team that can play spoiler and end the season near the .500 mark.
The Lions scored late-season upset victories over the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals in 2021. Last year’s early-round draft picks did not dominate, but they did develop under coach Dan Campbell.
Detroit fans will be hoping for an impact from defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Insiders agree that players like playing for Campbell and are emotionally invested in him, but that sort of reality means little to nothing if the results don’t start emerging.
It’s a year in which the Lions badly need to win at least six games. Four wins would be a real disappointment.

Eagles vs Lions Prediction
The Lions have to prove they are noticeably better. Until they do, the Eagles – with Jalen Hurts having a clear edge in overall quarterback skill relative to Detroit signal-caller Jared Goff – hold the upper hand and should be expected to win.
It’s just a four-point spread in the sportsbook. Lay the points with the Eagles as they get the job done for your NFL picks.
