The Pittsburgh Steelers (2-4) look to build off a big Week 7 win when they travel to Florida for a date with the Miami Dolphins (3-3) on the Sunday Night Football odds. Pittsburgh is coming off a huge upset as 9.5-point underdogs over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after winning outright 20-18. The Dolphins, meanwhile, are on an 0-3 slide but welcome back QB Tua Tagovailoa after missing time with a concussion.

Steelers

The Steelers dodged a bullet last week with Tom Brady and the Buccaneers failing to capitalize on Pittsburgh’s injured secondary. But they won’t be so lucky two weeks in a row with cornerbacks Cam Sutton, Levi Wallace, and Ahkello Witherspoon injured. Additionally, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is dealing with a knee issue. This means the secondary is down to their second-stringers before the game’s first snap.

On offense, things aren’t going much better for Pitt. One upset win aside, the Steelers still don’t even have a firm grasp on a starting quarterback. Mitch Trubisky started the season but was replaced by a rookie, Kenny Pickett, midway through Week 4’s game against the New York Jets. Then, in Week 6, Pickett got knocked out with a concussion, and Trubisky led them to the upset win. Pickett has been cleared to return to action, but we are unsure which way Pitt will lean with their starting quarterback this weekend. But neither choice is awe-inspiring.

Dolphins

The big news this week in Miami is the return of Tagovailoa under center after a well-publicized concussion. Assuming he’s good to go, Tua matches up well against a shaky Steelers secondary, especially if they are still banged up with several injuries in the secondary.

With Tua healthy, the Dolphins averaged 27.6 points in their first three games. If they carry that average into Week 8, it will rank them in the top 3 in the NFL. Tua has a lot to prove after a scary situation, and we think he will come through against a Pitt defense limping into play.

Steelers vs Dolphins Prediction

The Dolphins may have been one of the best offenses through the first three weeks. Still, it’s unlikely for them to return to that level of success in Tua’s first game back. The truth is that both offenses have been putrid in the last few weeks, and we don’t have faith in either to impress on SNF odds. With that in mind, we’ll take a shot on the under at 45 points.
