Buccaneers vs Eagles Odds
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13-4) and the Philadelphia Eagles (9-8) begin their playoff push at Raymond James Stadium in the NFC wild-card round. It’s the first game of Sunday’s tripleheader, starting at 1 PM ET.
Philadelphia, without much in the way of incentive, lost a 51-26 season finale at home to the Cowboys. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers disposed of the pathetic Panthers, 41-17. Early NFL odds have the Bucs at -9½, with the point total at 49.
Tampa Bay’s home win over clueless Carolina earned the defending champs the No. 2 seed in the NFC and a franchise-record 13th win. Tom Brady led the league in passing yards (4,990) and touchdown passes (40). Additionally, Tampa Bay finished as the number two- ranked offense, averaging 405.9 yards and 30.1 points.
Defensively, the Buccaneers finished the regular season ranked 13th on defense, allowing 331.5 yards/game. Their 20.8 points per game allowed tied for fifth-stingiest with Tennessee. Tampa finished with 29 takeaways, tied for fifth in the league.
The Eagles were without 11 key players via the COVID-19 list. That, and giving several key players the day off, resulted in a manhandling at the hands of the Cowboys. Regardless, the Philly offense has been one of the brightest in the league as they rank 14th overall (359.9 yards/game). Additionally, they were able to lead the league in rushing (159.7 ypg) while scoring 26.1 points per game.
The Eagles deploy a slew of defensive veterans, led by sack leader Javon Hargrave (7.5). Darius Slay had three defensive touchdowns during the season. The Eagles held opponents to 22.6 points a game, ranking 10th overall in total defense (328.8 ypg).
