Seattle Seahawks
Since their rousing Week 1 victory over the Russell Wilson-led Denver Broncos, the Seahawks have dropped two games on the trot. They lost to the San Francisco 49ers 27-7 on the road and to the Atlanta Falcons 27-23 at home.

The loss to Atlanta was a disappointment, even though the NFL odds and lines closed on a PK line. It was a game the Seattle Seahawks should have won. They had home advantage against the-then winless Falcons.
Conservative play-calling, sloppy play and a porous defense led to the Seahawks’ downfall at Lumen Field. Although Pete Carroll’s decision to go for a field goal in the third quarter – when the game was tied 20-20 and the Seahawks were perched inside the Atlanta 10 – got undue attention in his post-game presser.
In hindsight, it might have not been the gutsiest decision, but it’s hard to argue that it was the main reason for their loss either. The Seahawks had two fourth-quarter possessions that they failed to convert into meaningful points.
Detroit Lions
It was déjà vu all over again as the Lions, suffering a late-game collapse, lost to the Minnesota Vikings 28-24 last Sunday. The Detroit Lions were in control of the game right from the start, held double-digit leads a couple of times and were literally minutes away from securing their second win – until they didn’t. The Vikings stormed back with a late game-winning score to steal the victory.

Mistakes came from the field and the sidelines. Dan Campbell called an aggressive game, but when it counted the most, he opted for the conservative play. In the fourth quarter, up 24-22, Campbell went for the field goal on fourth down, even though his side had previously gone for it with a measure of success that should have encouraged them to go for it again. Moreover, a first down would have ended the game with the DUB safely in hand.
To be fair, it might have been the right play call had kicker Austin Siebert converted the field goal. Alas, he missed. The Vikings took possession with a short field to work with and a little bit over a minute left. They needed no more than 25 seconds to set up the game-winning touchdown. That’s how quickly things the tables turned.
The Lions took an L instead of a W and slipped to a 1-2 record. On the bright side, they improved to a 3-0-0 ATS record, making them one of the best bets for NFL picks against the spread in the first three weeks.

Seahawks vs Lions Head-to-Head
Seattle has dominated the head-to-head series over recent years, winning seven of their last 10 meetings. This run of positive form includes a 6-4-0 ATS record and a 5-5-0 record in Over/Under betting.
The Seahawks beat the Lions 51-29 on Jan. 2. It was the final game of the 2021 season and Russell Wilson’s last game with Seattle. It also marked the Seahawks’ fourth straight win over the Lions.
To find a Lions’ win, one needs to go back a decade, when Detroit edged the Seahawks 28-24 on Oct. 28, 2012.

Seahawks vs Lions Prediction
Whether you decide to fade or shade the Lions for NFL picks against the spread as highlighted below, be sure to check the sportsbook for the latest, up-to-date odds.
Lookahead NFL lines had the Lions tipped closer to a touchdown, but following last Sunday’s defeat to the Vikings, the line dropped. Injuries to RB D’Andre Swift (shoulder) and WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) – both of whom are questionable – also contributed to this significant drop.
That said, getting the Lions at the lower number of -4 is more appealing and offers better value to side bettors, all things being considered. Despite their 1-2 record, many believe the Lions are the better team in this matchup, with the more complete game and the better quarterback in former No.1 pick Jared Goff.
The Lions easily could be at 3-0 SU had things gone their way. They very nearly pulled off the comeback in Week 1 against the Eagles and poor decision-making and play resulted in last week’s loss.
In the Seahawks, the Lions will face one of the more porous defenses and that should give Goff plenty of field to work with. The Lions should not only win and cover, but this game could deliver high scoring as well.
