With Week 4 wrapped up, the Tennessee Titans (2-2) will visit the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4) at TIAA Bank Field in an AFC South matchup. The first-place Tennessee Titans were stunned by the previously winless New York Jets 27-24 in OT and hope to not be upset again by the winless Jacksonville Jaguars, who lost to the Cincinnati Bengals 24-21 on Thursday night.
Early NFL odds have set the spread at -4 for Tennessee as the road favorite, with the point total set at 48½.
The Titans, with a plethora of injuries, were shocked by the ets. Without their top two receivers, quarterback Ryan Tannehill and the offense struggled to finish drives and settled for field goals. Through four games, Tannehill is still moving the ball effectively, averaging over 250 yards per game, while NFL leading rusher Derrick Henry added another dominant performance by picking up 157 yards.
The Jets entered the matchup against Tennessee having allowed a league-worst 15 sacks. The Titans, however, only managed one sack and allowed the Jets to fire at will on offense. Similarly, the Titans gave up 27 points to the worst-scoring team in the league. To stave off another upset, the Titans will have to pressure rookie Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Jacksonville has one of the worst scoring defenses in the league, allowing almost 29 points per game. After blowing their second consecutive first-half lead, the Jaguars have to limit big plays on offense. They are giving up over 312 yards in the air per game and must take advantage of the Titans’ depleted receiving corps.
No. 1 overall pick Lawrence looked much more comfortable against the Bengals, not turning the ball over for the first time. The Jaguars have a solid running game and used it to their advantage last week, picking up three rushing touchdowns.
The Jags will need to continue pounding the football to take the pressure off Lawrence against the Titans.
