The Titans have won their last two games, including a divisional road victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Tennessee also won the turnover battle, which isn’t a bad thing.
The Colts missed a field goal and couldn’t finish drives, even though they held the ball several minutes more than Tennessee.
The Titans shut down the Indianapolis running game, holding Jonathan Taylor and the Colts under 100 rushing yards (though Taylor was injured during the game). If they do the same against Washington this week, they’re likely to win once again.
The other key has been getting Derrick Henry going. He had 114 rushing yards, helping the Titans achieve balance on offense.
He’s been included a lot more in the passing game as well. Targeted just once through the first two weeks, those who bet online saw Henry get 11 ‘looks’ in the last two.
Washington’s surrendered 4.4 yards per carry this season. Henry and the Titans should have another decent day offensively in this one.
Washington Commanders
The Commanders have lost three straight since their Week 1 rally against the Jacksonville Jaguars. They fell to the Detroit Lions in Week 2, the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, and the Dak Prescott-less Dallas Cowboys in Week 4.
The losses are getting worse and worse. They were somewhat competitive against the Lions (having lost by nine), then whipped by double digits in each of the last couples.
Carson Wentz has to be better at quarterback. He had two more interceptions against the Cowboys, and hasn’t exceeded 211 yards passing in each of the last two games.
He had seven touchdowns and three picks in the first two weeks, which wasn’t atrocious, but he’s been sacked 16 times in the last three, So, it’s not all on him.
Maybe the return of running back Brian Robinson (gunshot wounds) at running back can help bring some balance to a team ranked 21st in the rush offense this season.
The Titans are in the middle of the pack in run defense and sacks, so perhaps this is a week where Washington can do some things with the ball.
