AFC West Mock Draft
AFC West Mock Draft Betting Analysis Information
Once again, all signs point towards the AFC West being one of the most competitive and thrilling divisions in all of football come the 2023 season. With the reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs leading the helm, it will be up to the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, and Los Angeles Chargers to play catchup to Patrick Mahomes and company.
Sounds easy, right? No, who are we kidding, but hey, at least with the NFL draft coming our way, KC’s three divisional rivals could have a perfect opportunity to buff up their respective rosters if giving the Chiefs a run for their money is the mission.
A New Era Is Coming to Denver
For the Broncos, the 2022 season can be summarized in a few words. Ok, maybe not even a few, a simple “meh” or “wtf?” could end up working just fine. Now though, with a new head coach, and a mentality of change and winning coming to Mile High Stadium, the Broncos are more than ready to strike while the iron is hot and show fans and critics alike that they are here to stir things up and make a run for the divisional title.
Against them though, will be their entering the NFL draft in the third round, after surrendering a bounty of picks over to Seattle in their trade for QB Russell Wilson. Still, leave it to new head coach Sean Payton to find a way to make the most out of the six picks they have to find a way to rebuild the team and try to make the most out of what former coach Nathaniel Hackett left him.
LV and LA, Two Teams, One Mission, Staying Relevant
Over in two of the entertainment capitals in the world, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, it would be very good for someone to let their respective football teams know that their storylines are starting to get a bit stale.
With the Raiders and Chargers both looking to rebuild and strengthen their rosters to keep some real relevance in their divisional battle with the overwhelming favorited Chiefs and the new-look Broncos, hitting this year’s NFL draft in the strongest way possible will be of the essence.
So, who will the four teams from the AFC West be targeting come draft time? Let’s jump to it.
Kansas City Chiefs Mock Draft
You’d think that a team who just won the Super Bowl wouldn’t have many needs to address in the upcoming NFL draft right? Well, if you’re the Kansas City Chiefs that’s definitely not the case.
Five positions, two on offense and three on defense stand out as the team’s most urgent needs to tend to in the 2023 NFL draft. On offense, finding more weapons to add to a good, but not great wide receiver core is one of the main objectives for KC’s draft squad will be looking to address, all while adding depth to their offensive tackle position will also be high up in the list of priorities.
Defensively, finding suitable options for interior defensive linemen, as well as edge rushers and safeties for their secondary all stand out as the team’s top needs entering this upcoming season’s NFL draft.
Denver Broncos Mock Draft
After surrendering a bounty to get QB Russell Wilson, and then succumbing to one of the worst seasons in recent times for the team, the Denver Broncos are ready to strike once again. After hiring head coach Sean Payton to take over the reins of the team, and hoping to see a complete turnaround from Wilson and the rest of the team, the Broncos will be entering the 2023 NFL draft with six picks.
Starting out in the 3rd round, and hoping to score the best available talent to fill in some very apparent gaps within their roster, Denver will be focusing on strengthening their offense, especially at the running back position and offensive tackle, all while finding fresh prospects at the edge, cornerback, and defensive tackle positions.
As coach Payton prepares for his first year running the show in Denver, how will the team’s draft strategy pan out?
Las Vegas Raiders Mock Draft
Derek Carr is gone. So, should the Raiders jump at the chance of selecting a QB or wait out the free agency market to see what they can snag up? That will be one of the most important questions that Las Vegas will have to address in the 2023 NFL draft, as well as finding strong suitable options for their right tackle and interior offensive line positions.
Over on defense, the need for a fresh, strong option at cornerback, as well as finding prospects for their safety position, as well as linebacker and edge rusher cores will be of the utmost importance for a Raiders team looking to erase last season’s perils and enter 2023 with a new winning culture in hand.
Los Angeles Chargers Mock Draft
Don’t panic Chargers fans, the team’s contention window is still open, but it might be closing little by little as time progresses and the team continues to fail at gaining any true relevance.
That in itself is why the Chargers should be looking at the 2023 NFL draft with a keen eye on making the most out of their picks, especially when it comes to bolstering their offensive line to offer Justin Herbert protection, and bringing more depth to their defense.
Focusing on landing the top prospects in the right tackle, and interior offensive line positions will be key, as well as finding more weapons for their wide receiver, tight end, and running back core.
