NFC East Mock Draft
After arguably being the most competitive division last season in the NFL, the NFC East will be back at it, trying to pop once again in 2023. The Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Commanders will be entering the 2023 NFL draft with a clear goal in mind, being able to strengthen their rosters to take over the division.
As we wait to see how each team will tackle both the NFL free agency market and draft, let’s talk about how all NFC East teams could be preparing come draft day.
The Eagles Want to Run It Back
After a 2022 season that saw the Eagles make it to Super Bowl LVII, losing heartbreakingly to the Chiefs by a field goal, Philadelphia doesn’t want anything to do with the infamous “Super Bowl hangover.” So where does this leave the team at? Running it back like last season, but this time, with a new set of coordinators to back coach Nick Sirianni, and some very important issues to tend to, both in the upcoming NFL draft and the NFL free agency market.
For Philly, finding a way to further broaden their roster depth, all while addressing Jalen Hurts’ contract extension talks, and securing as many of their players from leaving the team once the NFL free agency period starts will be of the essence.
With a feeling of not wanting to regress after their stellar 2022 season, it will be up to Philly to pave the way for what could be their season to make it back to the Super Bowl and this time leave with the Lombardy Trophy.
For Dallas, NY, and Washington “Win Now” Is the Name of the Game
While the Eagles will be looking to run it back in 2023, for the Cowboys, Giants, and Commanders, this upcoming season has officially become a “win now” year. Starting out with Dallas, the team most pressured to find a way to victory in the league, hitting the 2023 NFL draft with poise and strength will be essential, especially when trying to keep up with their recent draft success stories in recent years.
For the Giants and Commanders, both teams with QB issues to resolve this offseason, the panorama could be taken as a little bit lighter. For the two teams, the 2023 season feels like the perfect plateau to take off and truly show what years of building and tweaking their rosters have done.
New York Giants Mock Draft
After a season that saw the Giants take an impressive leap in quality from their recent past performances, New York is ready for more this upcoming season. With the free agency market coming, and the need to create cap space, the 2023 NFL draft could easily be considered New York’s premier platform for scoring talented prospects to address different holes within its roster or add depth.
A vast part of New York’s draft strategy will revolve around its impending decisions when it comes to its QB department. For now, all signs point towards continuing with Daniel Jones as their franchise passer. But with Jones and his camp asking for a new contract and a hefty payday to come with it, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Giants trade up in the draft to try and snag one of the top QB prospects.
Besides that, addressing their needs for a wide receiver, tight end, cornerback, interior offensive linemen, and linebacker prospects will all be front and center in New York’s draft plans.
Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft
Another season is here and once again the Dallas Cowboys will be looking to find answers to their ever-so-present roster problems through the NFL draft. This season, in particular, all signs point towards Dallas doing most of their key additions through the draft, in the hopes of landing more key contributors to its team as in prior years.
Just like when they landed players like Ceedee Lamb, Micah Parsons, Tyler Smith, and Leighton Vander Esch, the Cowboys will be looking to add more depth to both their offense and defense this offseason.
Pending on what goes down in the NFL free agency market, where a lot of Dallas’ pivotal pieces might be looking for a new home, targeting new options at tight end, offensive linemen, interior defensive linemen, linebackers, edge rushers, and cornerback will be atop the team’s agenda.
Philadelphia Eagles Mock Draft
Fresh off own of their best seasons in recent times, with a trip to Super Bowl LVII included, the Philadelphia Eagles will be looking to repeat last year’s performance, but this time, to take the Lombardi Trophy back to Philly as a must.
As the team is bound to go through a significant makeover, especially in their coaching staff, and with Jalen Hurts’ contract talks becoming a pivotal point for what the Eagles could do both in the NFL free agency market and the draft, finding the best bang for your buck steals will be Philadelphia’s main mission come draft time.
With a need for options for running back and interior offensive line on offense and linebacker, cornerback, edge rusher, interior defensive line, and safety on defense, the Eagles will have a lot on their plate in the 2023 NFL draft to make the best with their picks.
Washington Football Team Mock Draft
If you were a Washington Commanders fan and had to pinpoint the team’s needs in the upcoming NFL draft, what positions would you be paying special attention to? Let’s leave the QB room aside because with the 16th pick in this year’s draft, the idea of Washington being able to snag up one of the top passers in the league is a long stretch.
Come NFL draft time, the Commanders could be looking at two ways to attack and make the most out of their picks. One would be to trade down a bit, finding a team looking to move a veteran QB in exchange for a move up in the draft. The other? Addressing one of their top three needs with the best talent available right then and there.
Needing a strong cornerback, as well as offensive linemen and a viable option at tight end, the Commanders should most likely focus their efforts on snagging up one of the top corners in the first round, followed by filling up on the rest of their needs on day two.
