10 Best NFL Games of the 2022 Season

The 2022 NFL schedule has officially been released, mapping out every team’s road to the Super Bowl in Arizona. This year’s schedule could lead to one of the most exciting seasons in NFL history.

Every week, there is a high-profile matchup. On top of that, many of last season’s best games will have rematches, leading to teams who might take one game a little more personally than others.

These are the top 10 best games of the season, making for must-watch TV.

10 Best NFL Games

1. Bills vs Chiefs, Week 6

Last season’s Divisional matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs might have been the best football game of the previous 10 years. The fourth quarter and overtime featured a dazzling display by two of the best quarterbacks in the league, leading to a jaw-dropping finish.

The clear headline is the budding rivalry between Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. The teams look set to set their stamp on the AFC as the two best teams.

The game might not be as spectacular as in the playoffs, but the quarterbacks will surely duke it out.

2. Bills vs Rams, Week 1

The Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams start their title defense against the Bills. Even though it’s Week 1, there is an excellent chance that the next time these teams play will be in the Super Bowl.

Few games can match the star quality. Von Miller, who won the Super Bowl with the Rams, will look to make an impact and validate the massive contract he received from the Bills.

The quarterback duel of Mathew Stafford and Allen can be explosive, as both have a history of taking risks, with the arm talent to make it look easy.

3. Rams vs Chiefs, Week 12

Nothing is as good as a Super Bowl Preview, right as each team is hitting its stride and solidifying itself as possible champions. What makes this game more exciting is the teams’ knack for big offensive numbers.

The last time they met was in 2018, when they played arguably the greatest offensive game in NFL history. They combined for 105 points, the third-most in an NFL game, as the Rams won 54-51.

The Rams arguably have a better quarterback in Stafford since that game, which might lead to another insane offensive game by both teams.

4. Chiefs vs Bengals, Week 13

The Chiefs and Bills have the clear foundation of a rivalry, but it is one-sided, with the Chiefs eliminating the Bills in back-to-back playoffs. Last season, the Cincinnati Bengals had two incredible come-back wins over the Chiefs, one in the AFC Championship Game.

Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid likely circled this as a must-win once the schedule came out, as they look for revenge. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is a player who does not shy from the moment. If anything, he excels when the lights are brightest.

Chiefs vs. Bills are primed for the next big AFC rivalry, but the Chiefs might value a win over the Bengals much more this season. The storylines leading up to the game write themselves.

5. Bills vs Bengals, Week 17

The AFC is filled with so much talent, and in Week 17, two weeks from the playoffs, Bills vs. Bengals is a clear playoff preview. Both teams are expected to be at the top of their respective Divisions, leading to a possible matchup in the playoffs.

This game could go one of two ways. Both can play it safe, with each of them not wanting to give away a possible strategy that could be used against them if they meet in the playoffs. On the other hand, the teams could be jostling for seeding in the playoffs, maybe looking to knock each other out of the top seed.

Either way, the game can set up to be a nice teaser for the playoffs.

6. Rams vs Buccaneers, Week 11

In last year’s playoffs, the matchup between the Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was not as close as the scoreline showed. The Rams committed countless mistakes leading to a Buccaneers’ late push at the end of the game.

With Tom Brady back in the fold with the Buccaneers, his pursuit for another Super Bowl ring continues. Brady is also one of the best players in NFL history with a chip on his shoulder. The Rams have given him a massive chip, and he might use that as motivation.

This game also features two of the best teams in the NFC, possibly previewing an NFC championship game down the line.

7. Chiefs vs Chargers, Week 11

What are the key ingredients to a great game? Good teams, both seeing the game as more than just another possible win, and the possibility for a close, but high-scoring game. The Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers have all the right ingredients for a must-watch game.

The Chiefs have been one of the best teams in the NFL for the last four seasons, and the Chargers are on the rise. Both are in the AFC West, already having an existing division rivalry. Finally, both teams had top-five offenses last season, which probably won’t change this year.

Last season, both games came down to the wire; the Chargers won the first game in the final seconds and the Chiefs the second in overtime. This year should be no different.

8. Rams vs Packers, Week 15

Similar to Bills at Bengals, the Rams versus the Green Bay Packers could be a playoff preview, as the playoffs are three weeks away. The teams have had sustained success over the last few seasons, which barring injury, should continue.

The last two seasons have seen the Packers finish the regular season with the top seed in the NFC, which the Rams can challenge for this season. Last year it was almost an entirely new team style with Stafford operating the offense, but after a season and a Super Bowl victory, he looks comfortable.

Even though both teams might hold back some game-specific tactics for a possible playoff rematch, both teams will also want a bye week in the first round of the playoffs.

9. Packers vs Buccaneers, Week 3

Almost nothing beats sitting at home watching two of the greatest NFL quarterbacks face-off, and that is what you get with the Packers facing the Buccaneers. The careers of Aaron Rodgers and Brady have always been compared, but with them being in different conferences for most of each other’s careers, they have few games against one another.

This game will be made through all the off-field storylines from the matchup between the future Hall-of-Fame quarterbacks. Add to that, the Packers and Buccaneers have both been two of the best teams in the NFC and look on the path to continue, making the game exciting outside of the storylines.

Any game where all-time players tangle is must-watch TV, and this is one of those games.

10. Chiefs vs Buccaneers Week 4

The Week 4 matchup rematch between the 2021 Super Bowl will be another rematch between Mahomes and Brady. Mahomes represents the future of the NFL’s quarterbacks, while Brady represents the past. They have faced off in the playoffs and regular season multiple times, each time putting on a show.

Mahomes and Brady will come to put on a show. Both teams are also at the top of the list for Super Bowl contenders.

Crucial Division Games

  • Eagles at Cowboys, Week 16
  • Broncos at Chiefs, Week 17
  • Patriots at Bills Week, 18
  • Ravens at Bengals, Week 18

Nothing beats late-season divisional drama that could break or make the playoffs hopes for a team’s season. If these divisions are close, these four games could decide the winner or loser at the end of the 18-week grind.
