2020 NFL Power Rankings: Week 7

NFL Power Rankings Week 6

Jamie Squire/Getty Images/AFP

The NFL Power Rankings Week 7 seem to be steadying with most teams except for the New England Patriots. They scored 12 points and lost to a team a Mile High, but it would not be intelligent to keep Bill Belichick out of your possible bets on our Super Bowl Odds. The Kansas City Chiefs are still the betting favorite and a strong Number 1 in these Power Rankings.

There is a point that needs to be made so that all you readers understand the philosophy and meaning behind these weekly rankings. These teams are ranked going into next week for the rest of the year! It isn’t whether number 11 lost to number 13, so they shouldn’t be ranked above them.

That is amateur poppycock thinking, and the goal of these rankings is to give every one of you a real and trusted rankings list going forward. That is what these are, and you can be assured they are as researched and on the damn money as anything out there. Period.

Making a Gase

We had another week without Adam Gase being fired, and the Jets should consider this: Both the Houston Texans and the Atlanta Falcons won their first games of the NFL betting season a week after they fired their head coach. I see this as the only possible way that the worst team in the NFL can possibly get a win this season.

You can fire your bankroll against the Jets in NFL Week 7 odds at BetUS.com along with a surprising number of games with sports betting lines that are way too low. You can thank me later.

Sometimes analytics need to be combined with a bit of common sense and game theory, especially when it comes to the two-point conversion. In each of the last two weeks, teams decided to go for two trying to lead by nine points instead of kicking the extra point to lead by eight.

Both teams failed to convert and lost the game. In week six it was the Houston Texans two weeks after firing their coach and one week after their first victory.

Winners and Losers

The NFL is down to just three unbeaten teams with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans playing each other next week. The Seattle Seahawks are the other undefeated team coming off a bye this week, which should make Cardinals’ fans a bit seasick, and they don’t have an ocean anywhere close to them.

The Colts Ol’ Man Rivers proved that reports of his demise are greatly exaggerated. Superstar Aaron Rodgers proved suggestions of his invincibility are a bit premature. And the GOAT Tom Brady proved that opponents talking smack on a radio show only make that chip on his shoulder bigger and stronger.

In the exciting NFC LEast watch, they still suck and seem to be on a steady suck rate along with the steady rate of these NFL Power Rankings. With a 5-18-1 record this year, it would still be smart to take advantage of this scary parody or scaredy in the NFL Division Odds at BetUS.com.

Groundhog Day for 1-2-3!

1. Kansas City Chiefs (5-1)

(Last Week-1)

The Buffalo Bills were the victim of the Chiefs’ grief after receiving their first loss last week. The domination defensively and in time of possession by Kansas City showed another side of the ways they can win.

The 26-17 final does not give a clear picture of the devastation done by the Super Bowl Champions, who had the ball a dwarfing 37:11 of the 60-minute contest. KC may not have scored 50 points, which would be epic, but this is almost more impressive because of the diversity it shows.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos, Over/Under Total NA.

2. Baltimore Ravens (5-1)

(Last Week-2)

The Ravens squeezed by to beat Philly 30-28 when Doug Pederson’s crew did not convert a 2-point conversion that would have tied the game with 2 minutes left. This was not a solid game all around for them. They gave up three fourth-quarter touchdowns, had 12 penalties for 132 yards and QB Lamar Jackson only had 186 yards passing, completing under 60% of his passes.

Some of this is good news! The defense sacked Carson Wentz six times, and this is their third 5-1 start in franchise history. The other two times they started this well, they won the Super Bowl, and to do that again they will have to tighten up their sloppiness. Now if Flacco was still there, it could be referred to as Sloppy Joe’s offense.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Bye Week.

3. Seattle Seahawks (5-0)

(Last Week-3)

Personally, I sure did miss DK Metcalf with the Seahawks bye week. But this week should be a 70-point game with the Cardinals that everybody wins in…except the Cardinals.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals, Over/Under Total.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-0)

(Last Week-7)

Impressive! Climbing! Watch Out!

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Pittsburgh Steelers -2 at Tennessee Titans, Over/Under 52½.

5. Green Bay Packers (4-1)

(Last Week-5)

Rodgers had 160 yards passing and threw two interceptions after going nearly 200 passes without one. He was blitzed a season-high 17 times on Sunday, so is it possible Tampa Bay handed the key to beating them to the rest of the NFL?

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Green Bay Packers -3½ at Houston Texans, Over/Under Total 56.

6. New Orleans Saints (3-2)

(Last Week-8)

It will be a Brees for Drew this week after a week off to go party, gamble, get hookers…wait wrong guy and team. Check the Raiders for the rest of this rant.

Damn, all he did was rest, charity, family, and God. I think this team is about to go on a long winning streak, and that was before I knew about his Saintly activities.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints , Over/Under Total

7. Tennessee Titans (5-0)

(Last Week-11)

Titans coach Mike Vrabel put 12 men on the field to purposely get a penalty. That was sooooo Belichick so he didn’t have to burn a timeout sneaky, sneaky, sneaky…Smart! Now they play one of two other undefeated teams this week when they are hosting the Steelers. Tennessee will be tenth or worse after losing to Pittsburgh.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Pittsburgh Steelers -2 at Tennessee Titans, Over/Under 52½.

8. Buffalo Bills (4-2)

(Last Week-4)

What can you say except this really good Bills team got destroyed by a superior team. Even getting killed, Buffalo kept it close, which gives hope. The greater hope and lock for success next week is they get to play the last team in these NFL Power Rankings, New Yuck Jets.

Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Buffalo Bills at New York Jets, Over/Under Total NA.

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-2)

(Last Week-10)

Tom Brady’s nickname should be Chip, and I don’t mean cheese like Chip and Skip and Muffy. I mean Chip because of that monstrous GOAT-sized chip on his shoulder that grew last week when Jamaal Williams opened his yapper on radio saying his QB knew what down it was. I knew this game was over as soon as I heard that.

Brady had 38 unanswered points while the Bucs defense had 13 pressures, five sacks and two interceptions in supporting their QB. This may be a real team. BTW, Brady has a .787 win percentage (48-13) following a loss in the same season. He lost last week. Easy Money!

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Tampa Bay Buccaneers -3 (Ev) at Las Vegas Raiders +3 (-120), Over/Under Total 53½.

10. Arizona Cardinals (4-2)

(Last Week-12)

The Cardinals are officially in the Top 10 in the Only NFL Power Rankings you ever need to use for reference in your Survivor Pools, NFL Betting and any other comparison uses.

This is a team that you can actually see coming together as a team and adjusting to strengths and weaknesses after each NFL game. This is important in every way you can use these rankings. Do it. Live it. Love it. Make trainloads of money off of it.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals, Over/Under Total.

11. Los Angeles Rams (4-2)

(Last Week-9)

They lost to San Francisco in the NFL’s toughest division, so they get a break. If they lose to DUH Bears, they may get thrown down to number 26.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Chicago Bears at Los Angeles Rams -6, Over/Under Total 46 on Monday Night Football.

12. New England Patriots (2-3)

(Last Week-6)

They are (2-3) for the first time since 2001…They won the Super Bowl that year.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: San Francisco 49ers at New England Patriots -3, Over/Under Total 45½.

13. San Francisco 49ers (3-3)

(Last Week-13)

They beat the Rams, but that doesn’t come close to making up for the football they have been spewing this year. This next week will tell who is real between them and the Pats, and my money is on Belichick.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: San Francisco 49ers at New England Patriots -3, Over/Under Total 45½.

14. Las Vegas Raiders (3-2)

(Last Week-14)

Bad news for anybody that suckers on that plus three points on sportsbook odds at BetUS. These degenerates have been liquored, schnockered and hookered for a week while they didn’t have to play on their bye week. And they just upset the Chiefs right before this bender. This game is going to be like watching a paintball fight between drunk college kids and Navy Seals. Guess which is which…

Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Tampa Bay Buccaneers -3 (Ev) at Las Vegas Raiders +3 (-120), Over/Under Total 53½.

15. Los Angeles Chargers (1-4)

(Last Week-16)

This team is nowhere near as bad as their record indicates, so do not write them off. This defense is going to impress.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Jacksonville Jaguars at Los Angeles Chargers -7½, Over/Under Total 49½.

16. Indianapolis Colts (4-2)

(Last Week-18)

The Colts Young Man Rivers threw for 371 yards and three touchdowns, so don’t ever count out a sh*t-talker!

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Bye Week..

17. Dallas Cowboys (2-4)

(Last Week-15)

There was a discussion about backup quarterbacks between a group of us NFL odds experts tonight, and Andy Dalton fits exactly what we were talking about. He is not the answer no matter the question, unless it is, “Who is a starting QB in the NFL right now that sucks?” That doesn’t bode well for Dallas, Cowboys fans.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Dallas Cowboys at Washington Football Team , Over/Under Total 49½.

18. Chicago “Teddy” Bears (5-1)

(Last Week-20)

The Bears had their sixth game with at least 3 takeaways since 2018, which is the most in the NFL and they still almost lost. Stay away from buying into that false won-lost record they have. The Bears have the 28th ranked total offense in the NFL. How far do you think that is going to take them? Not far.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Chicago Bears at Los Angeles Rams -6 at San Francisco 49ers, Over/Under Total 46 on Monday Night Football.

19. Miami Dolphins (3-3)

(Last Week-26)

For Dolphins that are screaming from the rafters to put in Tua Tagovailoa, you all got your wish. He finally got put in the game last week but not for the reason you haters wanted. He was put in because the game was so far in hand that they gave Ryan Fitzpatrick a break with less than three minutes left in the game. It was not a replacement situation.

For all the Fitzy haters, the pain is in the resistance. Get used to it, make a 20 count cocktail and love the team you love. Fitzpatrick had three touchdowns in back to back weeks, so don’t expect to see Tua anytime soon unless you are spitting into your own hand.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Bye Week.

20. Cleveland Browns (4-2)

(Last Week-17)

Told Ya!

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Cleveland Browns -3½ at Cincinnati Bengals, Over/Under Total 51½.

21. Carolina Panthers (3-3)

(Last Week-19)

The Panthers are not a great team. Carolina is not a terrible team. The fact they lost to Chicago seems off but not by a lot. These two teams are in the same grade – kindergarten.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints , Over/Under Total

22. Houston Texans (1-5)

(Last Week-21)

Almost! I guess with Henry having  212 yds rushing and 264 total yards from scrimmage usually means you’re gonna lose…but almost didn’t.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Green Bay Packers -3½ at Houston Texans, Over/Under Total 56.

23. Philadelphia Eagles (1-4-1)

(Last Week-22)

INJURIES!

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles 4, Over/Under Total 44 on Thursday Night Football.

24. Atlanta Falcons (1-5)

(Last Week-24)

Julio Jones is Back, Baby!

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Detroit Lions -3½ (Ev) at Atlanta Falcons -3, Over/Under Total 56½.

25. Minnesota Vikings (1-5)

(Last Week-23)

Nice of them to give the Falcons their first victory…IDIOTS!!

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Bye Week.

26. Detroit Lions (2-3)

(Last Week-25)

It appears Detroit finally brought out the Lion in the Lamb to devour the Jaguars.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Detroit Lions -3½ (Ev) at Atlanta Falcons -3, Over/Under Total 56½.

27. Denver Broncos (2-3)

(Last Week-27)

What the…Who did…Are you sure? In the legendary words of Lili Von Shtupp played by Bernadette Peters in Mel Brooks ‘Blazing Saddles’, “Oh, it’s twue, it’s twue. It’s twue, it’s twuuuue!” The Broncos beat the Patriots straight up 18-12, and yes, it is true.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos, Over/Under Total NA.

28. Cincinnati (Bangles) Bengals (1-4-1)

(Last Week-28)

This team is soooo close to rising to mediocre status, and the crazy thing is that they appear to be good sometimes with Joe Burrows.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Cleveland Browns -3½ at Cincinnati Bengals, Over/Under Total 51½.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5)

(Last Week-29)

Losing by 18 points to Motor City will not move you up.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Jacksonville Jaguars at Los Angeles Chargers -7½, Over/Under Total 49½.

30. Washington Football Team (1-5)

(Last Week-30)

You gotta love Washington head coach Riverboat Ron Rivera went for the win trying to point conversion against the second worst New York team in the universe. I cannot move this team below the Giants at this point.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Dallas Cowboys at Washington Football Team , Over/Under Total 49½.

31. New York Giants (1-5)

(Last Week-31)

Barely beating Washington just isn’t enough to move up.

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles 4, Over/Under Total 44 on Thursday Night Football.

32. New York Jets (0-6)

(Last Week-32)

New Yuck Jets…Finding new ways to lose talent and NFL games since Broadway Joe Namath was in the league…

Next Opponent & NFL Betting Line: Buffalo Bills at New York Jets, Over/Under Total NA.

Barry Barger

Barry Barger

Barry Barger aka Billy Ray Valentine aka YOBABY started writing for BetUS over a decade ago and is back to help improve your sports betting odds after sharing his knowledge worldwide. He was born and brought up a wholesome, clean-cut Midwestern kid from Omaha, Nebraska where he became a sports freak whether playing or watching. This lifetime Cornhusker enrolled at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, but after 3 ½ College years of wine, women and song, he decided to take a break (lost tuition gambling) to sell Life Insurance. That lame-ass decision along with the winter’s bitter cold (and people) drove him to drink…I mean move to the Valley of the Sun in Phoenix, Arizona. Barger received his BS degree in Marketing (and BS) with a Theater minor at Arizona State University where he started acting and writing for The Farce Side Comedy Troupe & Barren Mind Improv Troupe. Taking his passion professionally from Tempe to San Diego to Los Angeles to Costa Rica to LA again obviously tainted this once pure specimen. The upside to you, the reader, is a lifetime of sports knowledge and gambling intermingled with single debauchery with a raw form attitude. If you were a reader of his writing and sports betting articles before at BetUS.com, then your wishes have come true! If you don’t know who in the hell this brash know-it-all is, then you must have a Golden Horseshoe because it is your LUCKY DAY!
