But with teams like the Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers and other squads all ready to bring ‘risco down from its pedestal, what do the initial odds to win the NFC landscape look like for the 2024 season?

Who are 2024 NFC Odds Title Favorites?

It doesn’t take a genius to know the 49ers will be entering the 2024 season as odds-on favorites to repeat as NFC champions. Having one of the best, if not the best all-around rosters in the conference and the league itself, it’s win or bust for the Niners and their +275 odds are perfect proof of it.

After losing last season’s Super Bowl in dramatic fashion to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, it’s a given that Brock Purdy, Deebo Samuel, Trent Williams, Fred Warner, Nick Bosa and company will have their sights locked in on making a repeat trip to the Super Bowl, this time hopefully finishing with another Lombardi Trophy.

Coming in second is last season’s NFC sensation and most endearing story, the Detroit Lions at +550. After years of riding the bottom of the league and being the butt of all football-related jokes, head coach Dan Campbell has managed to turn his Lions from a pack of shaky kittens into the most vicious and fun-to-watch team coming out of the NFC North.

Close behind at +600 odds, a team that went from Super Bowl favorites last season to one of the biggest disappointments, the Philadelphia Eagles. Having one of the deepest rosters in the league, led by Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown and Saquon Barkley, the Eagles don’t wish a repeat of 2023’s antics, meaning that it’s fly or die or Philly.

At +800 odds and closing out the list of NFC favorites are two teams that faced off in last season’s wild card round of the playoffs. The winner (Green Bay Packers) was propelled to becoming an NFL betting favorite in 2024 while the other (Dallas Cowboys) continues to dwell between the fine line of criticism and favoritism.

For Green Bay, which secured Jordan Love as the team’s franchise quarterback with a four-year, $220 million extension this offseason, it feels as if the sky is the limit. NFL news sites left and right continue giving the Packers more and more love as the season nears, showing that the hype behind a potential Green Bay title run continues to only get stronger.

Lastly, the Cowboys. Oh, the Cowboys. If it was as easy to understand them as it is to hate them, maybe making sense of how a team so invested in succeeding continues to fail every season would be a simpler mission.

Is it Dak Prescott? Is it Mike McCarthy? Jerry Jones? Who knows.? But if there’s one thing that’s completely true about this team, it’s that you can never count Jerry’s boys out of competition, because when you least expect it, Dallas creeps up on everyone and shows it can hang with the big boys too.

Falcons, Rams, Bears Ready to Take on Dark-Horse Moniker

Just down a couple of steps from the favorites are three teams that could end up surprising odds fans if they can manage to get their game going as strong as possible from NFL Week 1.

Firstly, at +1200 odds, and with the addition of veteran star QB Kirk Cousins to lead a crop of explosive, young talents both on offense and defense, the Atlanta Falconscould be looking at shocking the league and going for a title run. Even if last season the Falcons found difficulties taking flight, there’s no denying that Atlanta has one of the best and deep young rosters in the NFC, which, with Cousins’ guidance, could end up putting the league on notice.

Secondly, at +1400, the LA Rams, who are banking on the receiver duo Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp alongside Matthew Stafford for a team that will have to step up their offensive game immensely, especially now that the team’s main defensive leader, Aaron Donald, called it a career this offseason. In a race that promises to be as tight as nails out in the NFC West, the Rams to bring their A game from beginning to end if they wish to give San Francisco a realistic run for the division.

Thirdly, and closing out this list, is a team many football fans may be shocked to find this high up – the Chicago Bears with +1600 odds.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Chicago will be entering the season with a rookie QB and favorite in our odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, Caleb Williams. Deemed as a true generational talent, the first since Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence, expectations are running sky high for Williams and the rest of Chicago as the hopes of finally turning the page on the perennial losing culture is ripe for the taking.

Closing Out The List: Everybody Else

If there’s one thing that stands out in the race for the NFC title in 2024, it’s the gap between the teams riding the top of the odds and the rest of the pack. Nine of 16 teams have odds going from +3300 downward, with the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks, both at +3300, standing out as the biggest threats from the remaining squads.

For the Vikings, who will be debuting a new QB after years with Cousins, the level of competition in the NFC North could end up being their Achilles heel. For the Seahaeks, consistency within the roster while they adjust to new head coach Mike Macdonald will be key to making a run for the playoffs.

Teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3500), New Orleans Saints (+4000), Arizona Cardinals (+5000) and fellow NFC East rivals Washington Commanders and New York Giants, both at +6500, round out the list. For a team like the Bucs, trying to emulate last season’s late run that saw them kick the Eagles out of the postseason in a surprising NFL betting odds upset, could work as enough inspiration to go for another shot at the playoffs and even the title.

As far as the Saints and Cardinals go, with rosters that don’t offer enough explosiveness or depth to work with, a run for the conference title doesn’t seem likely – just like with the Commanders and Giants.

Last, but not least, closing out the list, and expected to once again ride the bottom of the conference and maybe even the league overall is the Carolina Panthers at +12500. After finishing last season with a 2-15 record, there’s not much that can be said to save the Panthers from crashing down once again. Sure, they might get better, but after a 2-15 season, even 3-14 sounds like an improvement.
