Low-Budget Moves Name of the Game for Bills in Free Agency

This season’s NFL free agency frenzy is in full swing, and the Bills have already started laying out the foundations for a season in which they hope to once again be NFL betting lines favorites – this time, hopefully, without dropping the ball as has been customary in recent times.

Sean McDermott’s crew hasn’t been the loudest dancers at this year’s free agent ball, but they’ve still been making some low-key savvy moves.

Locking up their lockdown nickel corner, Taron Johnson, and re-signing defensive end A.J. Epenesa? Smart business.

Bringing in big-play threat Curtis Samuel to give Josh Allen another weapon along with Allen’s former backup, Mitch Trusbisky, to once again play second fiddle in Buffalo’s QB room? Sure, why not.

They’ve taken care of their own by re-signing key depth guys like Quintin Morris too. And you know they had to shore up that offensive line just a bit by nabbing former Los Angeeles Charger Will Clapp. Solid, low-risk additions all around.

But of course, not all can be rainbows and sunshine at Orchard Park. If the Bills wish to make 2024 the year in which they break away from their perennial late-season underwhelming performances, they need to step it up a notch.

Seriously, they can’t be done yet. As solid as these moves have been, when looking at all other teams leading the charge in the AFC’s NFL betting odds and the moves they’ve done, it’s more than clear that Buffalo needs at least one more explosive receiver to really go over the top.

Maybe snagging up another safety could do the trick, especially after letting Jordan Poyer walk. NFL news and rumors sites have made it abundantly clear that star safeties like Julian Blackmon and Justin Simmons are still sitting comfortably in the FA market, so why not try and work out a low cost one-year deal at least?

Don’t get me wrong, McDermott and GM Beane have done good work so far. But this free agency period ain’t over until the final whistle. If the Bills want to make a serious Super Bowl run, they’ve got to keep swinging for the fences.

Who Should The Bills Target in the 2024 Draft?

If you haven’t noticed yet, or you haven’t checked in on our NFL updates today, the draft is right around the corner. So you know what that means for the Bills? Right? It’s go time to reload that talented roster with some fresh blood!

McDermott and Beane have their eyes locked on a handful of premier prospects to really put this team over the top. And believe me, they’re not messing around with their big board this year.

Let’s start on the offensive side of the ball, where the Bills are absolutely jonesing to add another explosive playmaker or two for Allen. Florida State stud wideout Keon Coleman Keon Coleman could be an absolute dream pick if he slides a bit. Coleman has the vertical skillset to take the top off defenses alongside Stefon Diggs.

But Coleman is not the only receiver turning heads in Orchard Park. The Bills are high on a couple premier route runners in Brian Thomas Jr. out of LSU and Roman Wilson from Florida State. Either of those prospects would give Allen yet another dynamic target to slice up opposing secondaries.

Speaking of slicing, the Bills’ defensive brass is absolutely frothing at the mouth thinking about Chris Braswell coming off the edge. This Alabama monster has all the size, strength, and technique to terrorize quarterbacks at the next level.

Of course, bolstering the secondary is also a top priority for Buffalo’s braintrust. That’s why a guy like Michigan man Mike Sainristil fits squarely on the team’s cornerback radar after making that slick transition from receiver to defense. His ball skills and athleticism could make him a steal.

Rumor has it the Bills are kennel deep in their scouting and research on these premier prospects and more. You can bet your bottom dollar they’ll pounce to keep reloading that star-studded roster with blue-chip talent come draft night.

Buffalo’s championship window is still wide open, just slightly, but still open. Hence why the team needs to keep evolving and adding impact players.

If McDermott and Beane can pull off the necessary draft moves, another serious Super Bowl run in 2024 might be in the plans. If not, just close that damn window for good and stop wasting people’s time and Costco’s plastic picnic tables.
