After entering the season with some of the best odds to win the NFC and make it to Super Bowl LIX, Jerry Jones’ team has shown once again that they are not to be trusted with anything regarding success and happiness for its fans.

With a 3-3 record that has seen the team become a joke when playing at home and a schedule that reads like a script for a horror movie, one where the Cowboys clearly don’t make it out alive, let’s recap what the first part of the season has left for “America’s Team” and what’s to come.

2024 NFL Betting Recap: What The Hell Cowboys? Seriously, What! The! Hell!

Wasn’t This Season Supposed To Be Different?

It seems as if every offseason NFL predictions experts always seem to get an itch to give the Cowboys much more credit than what they end up owning up to. And don’t come telling me I’m making up things here out of hatred for Dallas. Even if I don’t like the Cowboys, I’m still a fair writer who gives kudos and crap to any team or player deserving of them.

Before the 2024 season started, the Cowboys were set up for a potential deep playoff run and being a title-contending team in the NFC. But after their 3-3 start, and especially after the 47-9 thrashing they suffered against the Detroit Lions before entering their bye week, I think it’s fair to say these Cowboys are pure fluff.

Yes, they’ve won three games. But who did they beat that can truly be seen as a statement win? They beat the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, but that’s another team heading to the gutter. They went on to beat the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers in Weeks 3 and 4. I’ll give credit for the Steelers win, because come on, even I could beat the Giants.

To say Dallas has struggled significantly at home, with a point differential of -66, is threading lightly. They have still to win a game at home this season and from the looks of it, it might take at least a couple more weeks to finally earn a home dub.

The team’s running game is a joke, ranked dead last in the league with an average of 77.2 yards per game. Their 21.0 points scored per game average puts them at the top of the bottom half of league rankings. Dak Prescott is nowhere close to being the favorite in our odds to win the NFL MVP award like last season. And the defense? Both in the team’s front line and secondary, there are more questions than answers.

McCarthy’s coaching has been something that’s left fans truly wondering why betting on the Cowboys could ever be a good idea. From the looks of it, if Jones doesn’t pull the trigger and look for a much-needed coaching change, the lackluster 3-3 start might be some of the best stuff Cowboys fans will get from the team this season.

Ring The Bells, A Calamity Is Coming!

I don’t know if you’ve done it, but I just took a peek at the Cowboys’ remaining schedule, and it just made me want to hug a Dallas fan and tell them it will all be over soon.

As soon as they come back from their bye, the Cowboys will be heading out to the West Coast, where the NFC betting odds juggernaut San Francisco 49ers will be waiting. Follow that up with a trip to Atlanta to face Kirk Cousins and the Falcons and two home games against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Houston Texans and what do you get? Yes, the ingredients to a football-ridden massacre.

With remaining games against the Washington Commanders, both away and at home, a visit from the Cincinnati Bengals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a home game against the Giants, and a visit to the Panthers, unless Dallas can find a magical cure to their mess of a season, I would solemnly advice good old Jerry to call it a season from early on.

I know, it’s the Cowboys we’re talking about, “America’s Team”, but damn, from the looks of it, tanking graciously might be the best scenario for this sinking ship.
