2024’s Last Wrap-Up: Saquon, Pop Tarts, LeBron & More
One More Wrap-up Before 2024 Ends? Let’s Get To It With NFL, Ncaaf Bowl Action & NBA News Leading the Way
Saquon’s Over 2K, Now It’s On to Break Dickerson’s Record
There’s one more week of NFL games left until the 2024 season ends, and while many would think teams like the Philadelphia Eagles would already be resting their starters for the playoffs, that is not the case whatsoever.
Looking to secure the NFC East title and 2nd seed in the playoffs, the Eagles not only gave the Dallas Cowboys a beating worthy of being in a Jerry Springer best fights video but also had Saquon Barkley continue in his quest to beat Erick Dickerson’s season rushing yards record by putting up a 164 rushing yard performance, thus leaving him 100 yards shy of breaking Dickerson’s 2,105-yard feat.

Saquon, being a man of the people and, honestly, one of the coolest and most selfless players in pro football today, took no time in making sure everybody knew that while he did break the 2K mark and has the record in sight, nothing would be possible without his teammates helping him when speaking with NFL news reporters after the game.
Stating, “I wouldn’t be able to do that without this team. You can’t be great without the greatness of others.” Barkley showed no issue showering his O-line with love; from the looks of it, that love is reciprocal.

Set to face his former team, the New York Giants, in Philly to close out the season, there have been voices echoing around the NFL rumors corridors that the Eagles may be thinking of resting Saquon.
But who are we kidding here? Every football fan, love or hate the Eagles, wants to see Saquon go for history.
So get ready Giants; you’re about to get yours again by Barkley.
Should Burrow Be MVP if Bengals Make the Playoffs?
It’s been a few days since I decided to try to end the debate about who deserves this year’s NFL MVP award more, Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen.
I’m a Jackson fan myself, not just because I’m also a New York Jets fan, which automatically makes me despise everything coming out of the AFC East, like Allen. I also firmly believe that if Barkley beats Erickson’s record next week, he should definitely be considered when voting comes along.
But can we please take a moment to talk about Joe Burrow’s stats this season and how he continues week in and week out to make his case for MVP?
Yes, this MVP conversation needs to be a four-way debate between Allen, Barkley, Burrow, and Jackson.

I’ll just go ahead and say this, which everybody can agree on. If Burrow squeezes the Bengals into the postseason, give him the MVP trophy and be done with the debate.
MVP chants pouring down for Joe Burrow.
Chills. Literal chills.

Oh, and if Cincinnati makes the playoffs, my first Super Bowl LIX prediction is here and now: Lions vs. Bengals, an epic catfight for the Lombardi in NOLA.
All Hail the New Kings of College Football Bowl Season, the Pop Tarts!
The College Football Bowl season is officially underway, and while there have been thrills, brawls, upsets, and everything in between, there’s no denying that the best game, and overall experience thus far has been the 2024 Pop Tarts Bowl.

Between Miami and Iowa State putting on an instant classic and everything happening with the Pop Tart mascots, it became everything NCAAF fans didn’t know they needed to finish out the year.

My wish for 2025 is simple: make the Pop-Tarts Bowl one of the main CFP playoff games!

Of course, not everything can be love and happiness in LA. As reported by Shams Charania, the Lakers decided to send D’Angelo Russell back to the Brooklyn Nets alongside Maxwell Lewis and three second-round picks, landing Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton in return.

One Last Lap Around the Block
Over in New York, in another episode of the Jets and Giants finding new ways to screw up their seasons and their fan’s emotions, the Jets got creamed by Buffalo at Orchard Park. Aaron Rodgers entered the game only to see his substitute, Bills legend Tyrod Taylor take over and lead New York on two touchdown drives not to leave upstate NY with a shutout.
But if you think that’s bad, how about the Giants screwing themselves out of next season’s No.1 NFL draft pick by playing their best game of the season against the Indianapolis Colts?
Seriously. Who the F… decided to put both New York football teams’ voodoo dolls through as much punishment this season?
The tanking Giants are the greatest team you’ve ever seen

You know what though, screw the New York Jets and Giants. They deserve everything happening with them, especially seeing Saquon and Sam Darnold over in Minnesota being given the love they needed to succeed back in NY.

Just look at Darnold and tell me that’s not a man who finally gets to feel what being valued is like.
In lighter NY news, the New York Knicks are balling like they really want to give Big Apple sports fans something to smile about and are now one game behind the Boston Celtics in the race for second place in the Eastern Conference.

Last but not least, over in England, perennial EPL betting odds favorites Manchester City managed to get out of their most recent losing slump and guide phenom coach Pep Guardiola to a 2-0 win over Leicester in his 500th game as skipper.
