NFC Division Opening Odds Report: San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers
It's Not A Given-But Close-That These Teams Collide In Playoffs
It’s the ninth playoff meeting since 1996 between the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers, this one Saturday evening at Lambeau Field.
San Francisco has won the last three post-season showdowns, including a 37-20 win in 2020. The Packers eliminated the 49ers in 1996, 1997 and 1999.

Green Bay is 3-0 and has covered in all three games when favored heading into the game. The Packers have the best NFL betting odds of any of the teams in this divisional round of the playoffs.
The Packers (+350) have the lowest odds to win the Super Bowl and also are strong favorites to win Saturday and advance to the NFC championship game for the third year in a row (10th time overall).

San Francisco dealing with injuries to defensive stars
It’s just a hunch that when devising a defensive game plan against Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the unknown status of your best pass rusher is probably not ideal. San Francisco is already without linemen Dee Ford and Javon Kinlaw, so seeing defensive end Nick Bosa knocked out of the wild-card win over Dallas (concussion) is not good news for the San Francisco faithful. It wasn’t any better when leading tackler Fred Warner left that game with an ankle injury, though he took to social media to proclaim that he’s good to go.
Bosa and Warner are both listed as questionable, and with the game being played Saturday, that’s one less day for them to get treated and cleared to play.

The 49ers have won their last three games when listed by the Las Vegas odds as the underdog and are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games when listed as the ‘dog. San Francisco saw Tampa Bay march all the way to the Super Bowl title as a non-division champion just a season ago (winning the NFC title in Green Bay) and the Niners look to perform a similar-if not exact-bit of choreography.
Green Bay, Rodgers ready to toe the line
The word that the Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ injured toe is feeling better is probably not music to the ears of the other NFC teams. Of course, a toe injury is not going to stand between Rodgers and a chance to make a Super Bowl run.
Even while clearly hobbled with that injury, Rodgers is the strong favorite to win the NFL Most Valuable Player award. He would become the first player since five-time winner Peyton Manning (2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2013) to earn that honor from the Associated Press in back-to-back seasons
Green Bay had a bye week as the NFC’s No. 1 seed, and with the other three remaining NFC teams coming from sun-drenched Florida or California, the home-field advantage could take on added meaning.
The temperature for Saturday night’s kickoff looks to be around five degrees when San Francisco comes to Lambeau Field.
The bye could also aid running back Aaron Jones (knee) and All-Pro linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (elbow). Could that time off also allow shutdown cornerback Jaire Alexander (shoulder) and receiver Randall Cobb (abdominal) to return to action? If they do, it would only make Green Bay a stronger choice as the favorite according to the NFL picks against the spread.
Opening Line
The game opened with Green Bay favored by five points, but with those who bet online jumping on that number, it moved to six.
The money line has gone from -225 to -230 for Green Bay and for San Francisco, it started at +185 and is now +190. Considering the number of key players currently considered to be questionable for both teams, there is the potential for significant line movement.
The total has held firm at 47½, though that also has a chance to change. San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is among the Niner players with ‘questionable’ tags due to a shoulder issue. The 49ers have first-round pick Trey Lance waiting in the wings and, having grown up in Minnesota and playing his college ball in the state of North Dakota, cold weather shouldn’t impact Lance if needed. However, a rookie being inserted in place of a quarterback with Super Bowl experience would catch the eye of those who bet online.
