Week 2 Games That You Can’t Miss

1. Goff’s Lions to Host Baker, Bucs

It became very clear early last season that coach Dan Campbell might be the solution to getting this Detroit Lions team into Super Bowl shape. Campbell led the Lions to an impressive 12-5 record in 2023, which was more than just impressive — it was historic.

With a nearly identical roster returning and a hunger to redeem themselves after falling just one game short of a Super Bowl appearance last season, the Lions will look to stomp their opponents any chance they can get, especially any team in the NFC.

As for Tampa Bay, they may not have had a Super Bowl run last season, but the Buccaneers were far from being a doormat that any team can just wipe their feet on. After finishing last season with a 10-8 record and crushing the Eagles with a 32-9 victory in the Wild Card round, it became evident that the NFL world may have underestimated the Bucs.

Having Jared Goff at quarterback for Detroit and Baker Mayfield leading Tampa Bay, it’s pretty clear this game will be all about the pass. Both of these guys love to air it out, so it’s likely we’ll see some big plays and see them trade touchdown for touchdown.

2. Bills Invade Dolphins Territory in AFC East Clash

When it comes to almost winning things or almost clinching title games, the Buffalo Bills may win that category. After losing back to back Divisional Round games to the Chiefs and Bengals the last two seasons, it’s almost as if you should feel bad for them. But in terms of regular-season play, it’s safe to say that the Bills can get the job done.

Everyone is expecting Josh Allen and James Cook to be hungrier than ever. Remember, Allen wrapped up last season with over 4,000 passing yards, landing himself in the league’s top four, while Cook finished in the top three for rushing yards with 1,122.

However, Buffalo did suffer a few losses this offseason as Pro Bowl Center Mitch Morse and All-Pro Safety Jordan Poyer parted ways with the team. Despite these setbacks, Buffalo is still highly perceived around the league as a deep playoff contender.

Miami had a way better offseason compared to Buffalo, that’s for sure. The Dolphins landed Super Bowl champ Odell Beckham Jr. to join Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and the rest of the Dolphins wide receiver core. And get this, they still have Raheem Mostert coming back too, after a strong season along with Tagovailoa at quarterback. Coach Mike McDaniel’s been busy this offseason, and he’s really building something special in Miami.

It will be interesting to see how everything unfolds. Last season, both teams finished with an 11-6 record, and man, they can really put up some points! Also, both teams have quarterbacks who finished in the top three for most passing yards, so it’s going to be a real nail-biter.

3. Healthy Joe Burrow Ready for Mahomes, Super Bowl Champ Chiefs

Yep, that’s right. You read the title right. Joe Burrow is back and ready to get some revenge on the Kansas City Chiefs in this Week 2 matchup. The Bengals are hitting the road to face off against Mahomes and Chiefs. It’s no surprise that everyone kind of forgot about Cincinnati and how good the Bengals were before Burrow’s injury last season. Even me, to be honest.

But let’s not forget how they were one of the top teams in the league and even beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game just a few seasons ago. Yeah, they lost to the Rams in the Super Bowl, but they still had an incredible run. And let’s not forget that the Chiefs got their revenge the next season by beating the Bengals in an AFC Championship rematch and eventually winning the Super Bowl.

Looking how much history there has been between these two teams in less than five seasons, it would be stupid to not put this game as a must watch. Both teams come with versatile quarterbacks, along with a lethal wide receiver set. This game will be a toss-up.

4. Steelers Nation, Lets Ride: Russell Wilson Returns to Denver

There’s a real buzz around the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos, with everyone eager to see how it’ll play out. The big talking point is Russell Wilson, who’s making a quick return to Empower Field, but in a Steelers jersey this time. Now, alongside his new partner-in-crime, Najee Harris, in the backfield, Pittsburgh fans are hoping this duo can breathe new life into the Steelers’ offense and help them get to the top of the AFC North.

As for the Broncos, they were left with a void after cutting Wilson this offseason, but they regrouped by grabbing another Wilson and more. They quickly snagged up Zach Wilson from the Jets and drafted Bo Nix from Oregon, both of whom should help keep them fighting in the AFC West.

As the game draws closer, everyone’s eyes are on Russell Wilson. The big question on everyone’s mind is whether he can recapture the form that made him a star during his time with the Seattle Seahawks. If he can, the Steelers could find themselves right back at the top of the division. This is going to be a real barn-burner of a game, with both teams looking to prove themselves as legitimate contenders.
