Bank on Injuries with a Bet on These 3 NFL Games

This is the time of the year when teams that appear headed to the playoffs begin the NFL’s version of load management. Even though there are some prominent players who have been held out of practice or practiced on a limited basis, that doesn’t mean they won’t be suiting up on Sunday. If players are still out of practice heading into the weekend, that could impact the best NFL bets for Dec. 3.

The Indianapolis-Tennessee, Denver-Houston, and San Francisco-Philadelphia games are among those that could feature late line movement depending on who is in and who is out. The week started with the Seattle Seahawks playing without star running back Kenneth Walker in Thursday’s 41-35 loss to Dallas.

The Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants all have bye weeks.

Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins and the San Francisco 49ers are the road teams favored on Sunday.

The 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles have the best record in the NFL and are also tied with Jacksonville for the winning percentage (.727) against NFL betting lines this season. When looking at the totals, Dallas leads the way with eight games going over the total after Thursday’s high-scoring win over Seattle.

When looking at the NFL futures odds, there are two games on Sunday between teams with winning records. One of them involves Philadelphia and San Francisco, two of the front-runners for the best odds of winning the Super Bowl.

Regarding the best picks for the NFL in Week 13, we look at three games most likely impacted by injuries.

Indianapolis Colts vs Tennessee Titans

Sunday, Dec. 3, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)

So much for a matchup of two of the NFL’s best running backs. Tennessee’s Derrick Henry looks good to go, but Indianapolis will be without running back Jonathan Taylor as well as rookie cornerback JuJu Brents. Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and center Ryan Kelly are questionable.

Tennessee receiver Treylon Burks, who was taken with the first-round pick acquired in the deal that sent receiver A.J. Brown to Philadelphia, could miss another game as he is questionable for the game.

Cornerback Roger McCreary, offensive lineman Aaron Brewer and linebacker Luke Gifford are also questionable.

In a span of 10 days, the Vegas NFL odds went from the Colts being the three-point underdogs to the two-point favorites.

Denver Broncos vs Houston Texans

Sunday, Dec. 3, 1 p.m. (CBS)

Houston receivers Noah Brown and Tank Dell are both questionable as is tight end Dalton Schultz. Those are three of the most reliable pass catchers for Houston rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.

The Texans might also be without defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins.

The biggest name on the injury report for Denver is receiver Jerry Jeudy.

With so many top pass catchers slowed by injuries, it might be time to temper the expectations for the two quarterbacks in this matchup.

When looking at our NFL odds this week, there has been almost no line movement in this game with Houston currently favored by three points against the Broncos as both teams are looking to improve to 7-5 and help their chances to qualify for the playoffs.

San Francisco 49ers vs Philadelphia Eagles

Sunday, Dec. 3, 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS)

The biggest news in Philadelphia might be that tight end Dallas Goedert returned to practice. There is a chance that he could play for the first time since a Nov. 5 win over Dallas.

Receivers A.J. Brown and Julio Jones are both questionable. Brown did practice on a limited basis on Thursday so that bodes well in regards to his availability for Sunday’s matchup with San Francisco.

For the 49ers, defensive end Arik Armstead, receiver Ray-Ray McCloud, running back Jordan Mason and offensive lineman Spencer Burford are questionable.

This is the type of game between championship contenders when the hope is that all hands are on deck.

The line has moved from San Francisco being a 1-point underdog to a 3-point favorite on the road according to our sportsbook against the team with the best record in the NFL
