Welcome back to the chaos that is our weekly AFC rankings, where we’re looking at my Super Bowl 59 predictions and seeing if anyone’s actually playing nice with those odds. Week 9 gave us plenty to dwell on — some teams just did their thing, while others reminded us why we can’t take them too seriously. If you were holding onto that favorite pick for February’s big game, well, I hope you have a backup plan. It’s been a ride, and we’re only at the halfway mark of the season.
And as always, there’s no shortage of NFL news to sift through. So, kick back, pour a stiff one, and let’s dive into the movers and shakers heading into Week 10 of the NFL season. Spoiler alert: Not everyone made it out of Week 9 in one piece.
AFC Super Bowl Rankings: Top 6 Contenders to Bet On
1. Kansas City Chiefs (+400)
Last Week Ranking: 1
And here we are, yet again, with the Kansas City Chiefs sitting at number one. Look, I know it’s getting old, but what can we do? They’re 8-0 and keep making their odds to win Super Bowl 59 the safest bet in town. After a Monday night win over the Tampa Bay Bucs, they’re now not only undefeated but also holding a spotless 4-0 record at home.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, as usual, didn’t disappoint — throwing for 291 yards, three touchdowns, and not a single interception on 34-of-44 passing. Running back Kareem Hunt ran for 106 yards and found the end zone, while wide receivers Travis Kelce and DeAndre Hopkins took turns keeping the chains moving, racking up 100 and 86 yards respectively, with Hopkins grabbing two TDs.
But, there’s a small catch here. Yeah, they’re undefeated, but their defense? Let’s just say it’s not Super Bowl material. They let quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Bucs put up 200 passing yards, two touchdowns, and almost 100 yards rushing. Sure, they’re winning, but if they want that three-peat, the defense has to step it up. We’ll see if they can iron out the kinks over the next few weeks. For now, though, the Chiefs continue to make it look easy.

2. Pittsburgh Steelers (+3000)
Last Week Ranking: 3
Sliding up to the second spot in my AFC rankings, it’s the Pittsburgh Steelers. After a chaotic Week 9 that left some teams hurting, Pittsburgh continues to shine, looking rock-solid in the AFC North with a 6-2 record. Sure, they’re fresh off a bye, but let’s not overlook the three-game win streak they are riding in on. And when it comes to their odds to win the AFC North? Yeah, they’re sitting pretty comfortably.
The Steelers’ offense, led by quarterback Russell Wilson and running back Najee Harris, continues to get the job done. But the real story here might just be their defense. Ranked fourth in the league against the rush (giving up only 90 yards per game) and ninth in total yards, surrendering just 310 yards total per game.

Now, do they have the best odds to win Super Bowl 59? Maybe not. But anyone overlooking this team is in for a wake-up call. With Washington’s high-flying offense on deck for Week 10, we’ll get to see if Pittsburgh’s defense can back up its defensive reputation and shut down quarterback Jaden Daniels and company.

3. Baltimore Ravens (+600)
Last Week Ranking: 4
Claiming the bronze spot is none other than the Baltimore Ravens. With seven wins in their last eight games, it’s hard to deny this team’s momentum, especially after a statement 41-10 victory over Denver.
While the Chiefs and Lions often grab the offensive spotlight, Baltimore continues to prove they belong in that conversation too. Led by quarterback Lamar Jackson, who threw for 280 yards and three TDs with a near-perfect 16-of-19 passing, and running back Derrick Henry, who racked up 106 yards and two scores, the Ravens piled on the points with ease. And let’s not forget wide receiver Zay Flowers’ monster day — five catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns.

Now, Ravens fans, don’t hate me for saying it, but the defense? That’s another story. Sure, they shut down a rebuilding Denver squad with rookie QB Bo Nix, but the holes are still glaring. Despite sacking Nix four times, they allowed 223 passing yards and gave up 122 on the ground. It’s a familiar tune by now — Baltimore can score all day, but if they want to go the distance, the defense has got to tighten up!
Looking ahead to Week 10, Baltimore will square up with the Steelers, setting up a classic offensive vs. defensive game. Let’s see who comes out on top.

4. Buffalo Bills (+900)
Last Week Ranking: 5
Climbing up to number four this week, welcome back to the Buffalo Bills. After a couple of tough losses a few weeks ago, the Bills seem to have found their rhythm again, averaging 28.9 points per game, and their odds to win the AFC East are starting to look sharp. Coming off a big Week 9 win over the Miami Dolphins in a tight 30-27 matchup, they’ve earned their spot back in the top ranks.
Quarterback Josh Allen was dialed in, tossing for 235 yards with three touchdowns, although he did toss one interception. The run game took a bit of a backseat, with running back James Cook managing just 44 yards on 10 carries, but the receivers showed up big time. Wideout Khalil Shakir pulled in six catches for 50 yards, and even backup tailback Ray Davis chipped in with two catches for 70 yards and a score.
Six for Mack‼️

Defensively, though, the Bills still have some work to do. Letting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa throw for 231 yards with two touchdowns and 149 rushing yards. Sure, the Dolphins’ offense is no slouch, especially when Tua’s healthy, but if Buffalo wants to break through in the playoffs, they can’t afford to be this shaky on the defensive end.
Despite sitting at 7-2, I still have a bit of a question mark around how they’ll match up when the pressure’s on. And that ultimate test isn’t far off — they’re hosting the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs soon. Let’s see if they can bring their A-game.

5. Houston Texans (+2500)
Last Week Ranking: 2
While my top four teams have been on the rise lately, one team slipping down the NFL betting ranks is the Houston Texans after a tough 21-13 loss to the Jets in Week 9. Texans fans, I get it — this team has the talent to compete, but consistency? That’s still a work in progress. Against the Jets, quarterback C.J. Stroud had a rough outing, managing only 191 yards on an ugly 11-for-30 passing with no touchdowns and got sacked eight times. On the ground, they got some production, as Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon racked up 106 yards on 24 carries and found the end zone.
There goes that man 😮💨

Defensively, it wasn’t much better. Houston’s defense allowed quarterback Aaron Rodgers to throw for 211 passing yards and three touchdowns with minimal pressure, getting only two sacks. Not to mention, they also gave up 100 rushing yards, with running back Breece Hall slipping through for 74 yards on 15 carries.
Sure, the Texans are still sitting at a solid 6-3, but this game underscored the inconsistency that’s been hurting them all season long. Heading into Week 10, they’re up against a scorching-hot Detroit Lions team. We’ll see if Houston can shake off this loss and come out firing, showing the Lions that their last game was a fluke.

6. Los Angeles Chargers (+4500)
Last Week Ranking: 7
For my sixth and final slot in this week’s AFC Power Rankings, welcome back to the Los Angeles Chargers! They’ve nudged their way back into the mix after a short stint outside my top six. Honestly, it was a toss-up between them and the Broncos, but after Denver got completely dismantled by the Ravens and the Chargers pulled off a solid 17-point road win, the choice was clear. Sorry, Broncos fans.
Now, are the Chargers a powerhouse? Not exactly, but they’re proving that they’re no team to overlook. With a 27-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns, quarterback Justin Herbert put on a clinic with 282 yards on 18-of-27 passing, tossing two touchdown passes. Alongside him, running back J.K. Dobbins looked back to form, racking up 85 yards on 14 carries and scoring twice on the ground. Wide receiver Quentin Johnston also got in on the action, reeling in 118 yards on just four catches and adding a touchdown.

— Los Angeles Chargers (@chargers) November 5, 2024
Defensively, the Chargers handled their business, especially on the ground, where they’ve quietly been lethal all season. They held Cleveland’s run game to just 79 yards — spread across five different rushers. On the other hand, the pass defense showed some cracks, letting quarterback Jameis Winston put up 235 yards and a touchdown. Not great, but they did limit him to just that one score.
This Sunday, the Chargers go head-to-head with the Titans as clear favorites at BetUS Sportsbook, who are coming off a win but aren’t exactly playoff-bound. Let’s see if L.A. can keep this win streak alive and push to 6-3, proving they’re here for the long haul.
