Bills AFC East Favorites? Odds and Schedule Breakdown for All 4 Teams

Despite a volatile offseason, the Buffalo Bills are still slight favorites to win the AFC East in our NFL odds. The Bills sit at +175 just ahead of the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets who are tied for second at +185. Vegas is still not feeling the New England Patriots who are last in the division odds at +2500. Let’s take a look at what fans can expect from the AFC East schedule in 2024.

Each team features its typical AFC schedule as well as the four NFC West teams. The AFC East will also play an NFC North team. For example, the Patriots play the four NFC West squads as well as the Chicago Bears.

This means the AFC East teams will all play the Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, and Arizona Cardinals. Each team will also play one of these franchises: Bears, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Detroit Lions.

Let’s take a look at what to watch for on the Bills, Jets, Dolphins, and Patriots schedule.

Bills Still Viewed as Potential Super Bowl Contenders?

Gone are Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, but the Bills are still viewed as a Super Bowl contender. Buffalo does project to have a favorable end to their schedule.

The Bills travel to Detroit then host the Patriots and Jets before traveling to New England. This is an especially favorable end to the regular season if you are skeptical of the Jets.

Buffalo will still be tested with back-to-back road matchups against the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans in Week 4 and Week 5. The Bills take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11 followed by the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13 after their bye week.

The sportsbook has set the Bills over-under at 10½ wins.

Can the Dolphins Still Be a Threat?

Fresh off an impressive run to the postseason, fans need to keep an eye on the Fins. Miami has spent the offseason adding even more speed. How will the Dolphins deal with the weight of expectations?

We could know early what to expect from Miami as they play the Bills and Seahawks in Week 2 and 3. The Dolphins end the season with a challenging stretch.

Three of Miami’s four final games are on the road, including the Cleveland Browns and Jets in the final two weeks. Not ideal for a team based in South Florida.

The over-under for the Dolphins win total is set at 10.

Prepare to see A LOT of the Jets on Your TV

If you are already sick of the Jets, I do not have good news for you. The Jets will be on national TV six times this season.

The NFL is once again banking on the Aaron Rodgers effect to boost interest in the franchise. New York will be tested in the season opener as the team travels to San Francisco for Monday Night Football.

Otherwise, there are no potential landmines on the Jets’ schedule, at least based on preseason expectations. Some games to keep an eye on are Week 9 against the Houston Texans and Week 13 versus the Seattle Seahawks.

New York has a chance to gain ground in the AFC East at the end of the regular season, assuming the team is still in contention. The Jets battle the Bills and Dolphins to close the season.

NFL betting odds have the Jets win total at 9½.

Vegas Is Fading the Patriots This Season

It is hard to imagine lower expectations than what the Patriots have this season. This is a rarity in New England, but welcome to the post-Bill Belichick era. The Pats’ win total is set remarkably low at 4½.

Yet, there is a reason for optimism after the Patriots draft class headlined by quarterback Drake Maye. New England does have a brutal start to the regular season with three road games the first four weeks.

The Pats open the season at the Cincinnati Bengals. New England then hosts Seattle before traveling to the Jets and 49ers. The Patriots also have a challenging end against the Los Angeles Chargers along with two matchups versus the Bills to close the regular season.

There is still some appeal on the over for the Pats’ win total at the sportsbook.
