The NFL regular season is right around the corner, with Week 1 less than a month away. Before the 103rd season of the NFL kicks off on September 8, we have to get in all preseason our prop bets for the upcoming campaign. Among the prop odds at BetUS Sportsbook, a few long shots jump out with a lot of betting value. We have highlighted three NFL season props to make bold predictions on before the start of the regular season.
Deebo Samuel To Win Offensive Player of the Year +1200
Samuel might not quite qualify as a dark horse, but he’s a lot lower ranked on the odds board than we would have expected. At +1200, Samuel provides excellent value to continue shining in his role as a dual threat for San Francisco. Samual ranks behind Cooper Kupp, Jonathan Taylor, and Derrick Henry but has higher odds than Davante Adams and Christian McCaffrey (+1400).
What makes Samual an exciting choice is his flexibility within the 49ers’ offense. Samual led the offense on the ground and through the air in a breakout 2021 campaign. He racked up 1,405 yards receiving and 365 yards on the ground. If Samuel continues to be used at a high level, he’s a solid bet to win the OPOY award in 2022.
Derek Carr to Lead the NFL in Passing Touchdowns +1600
Derek Carr is a dark horse for a bunch of NFL season props with the lowest odds of any division QB winning the MVP at +2000. But, with Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Russell Wison sharing the AFC West, Carr is often overlooked. We’ll focus on his chances to lead the NFL in passing touchdowns, not the MVP award.
Carr is known for being an accurate passer and ranked third in 2021 in throws on target. Only Joe Burrow and Kyler Murray did better. The Raiders’ offense also has a new weapon in Davante Adams, who Green Bay traded early in the offseason. Adams has the skill to be a top WR in the league if he and Carr mesh. Alongside Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow, Adams could shine in his new role in Las Vegas. The new-look Raiders have the talent to do much damage in 2022 with Carr at the helm.
Matt Ryan To Win Regular Season MVP +5000
We saved the best for last here with the potential to win $1,000 off a $20 wager on Matt Ryan to win the MVP. For those who say he’s too old, let’s not forget that Aaron Rodgers is the two-time defending MVP and a year older than Ryan. Ironically, four players won the award at age 27, including Rodgers, Peyton Mannings, Rick Gannon, and Y.A. Tittle.
Ryan has the skills to take the Colts to the next level, which is what the MVP award is all about. It’s not just who leads the league in yards or touchdowns. And, thanks to Jonathan Taylor, Ryan will not be the sole focus of this system with the running game the Colts have. Indy boasts one of the best offensive lines in the business that will allow Ryan time to work. Something he had very little of in his time in Atlanta.
If all goes well, Ryan could pull off a Robert Downey Jr. and resurrect his career as a seasoned veteran. To be honest, the Colts don’t have the best receivers, with Michal Pittman Jr. and Parris Campbell the standout names. But, Ryan has the talent and knowledge to work around the team’s shortcomings.
