online sports betting is all about reading the existing betting trends and statistics, following gut instincts, and riding good luck. The Carolina Panthers have crashed back down to Earth, having suffered four straight losses entering this contest vs Tampa Bay.
Our online sportsbook’s most recent NFL betting odds show the Panthers as six-point home dogs, going against a grumpy Buccaneers team. The Saints stomped the Bucs 38-3 Sunday in Tampa, and the Panthers are facing the repercussions of that beatdown.
The Buccaneers (+375) have dropped to second in the NFC, regarding their odds to win the conference. The Panthers (+8000) come in as unlikely longshots to win the NFC, or much of anything else this season. Current Super Bowl Odds show Tampa Bay’s moneyline at +900, while Carolina’s +20000 moneyline has been swelling weekly.

The Buccaneers were straight dominated in a home collapse against the Saints last week. Tom Brady was a hot mess, completing 22-of-38 passes for 209 yards for zero TDs while throwing three interceptions. Newly added WR Antonio Brown was a virtual nonfactor, catching three passes for 31 yards.
The Saints held the Buccaneers to 194 paltry yards while more than doubling their time of possession. New Orleans choked the life out of what had been a thriving Tampa Bay running game, allowing eight total yards.
On the other side of the ball, the formerly dominant Bucs D gave up 420 total yards to Drew Brees and the gang. The Saints converted on 9-of-14 third downs, and Brees was 26-of-32 for 222 yards and four touchdowns in the blowout.
New Orleans swept the season series with Tampa Bay in explosive fashion. This whipping ushered in a virgin experience for future Hall of Famer Brady. It’s the first time in Brady’s career that he’s been swept by a divisional opponent.

The Panthers vs Chiefs game turned out to be one of the best contests on the NFL Week 9 calendar. Carolina came out swinging hard, narrowly losing 33-31 to the reigning champs in Arrowhead Stadium. Panthers’ placekicker Joey Slye just barely missed a game-winning 67-yard field goal attempt as time expired.
Carolina went toe-to-toe with Kansas City, and there’s no doubt that Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid was sweating it out. Panthers’ QB Teddy Bridgewater performed brilliantly, completing 36-of-49 passes for 310 yards and two TDs. All-world RB Christian McCaffrey tore the field up in his return from the injured list.
McCaffrey rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, while catching 10 passes for another 82 yards and a score. The performance was McCaffrey’s 10th 10-catch performance of his career. Check out the highlights here.
As great as the Carolina offense performed, its defense couldn’t contain Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offensive juggernaut. Mahomes threw for 372 yards on 30-of-45 passing, connecting on four TDs while throwing no picks. The Panthers held the Chiefs to just 30 yards on the ground, but Mahomes and K Harrison Butker made up the difference. This was both a promising and painful loss for Carolina.
Betting on the Game
Carolina is 5-2 ATS over its last seven games but has failed to cover in seven of its last eight at home. The Buccaneers are only 2-6 ATS over their last eight NFC South battles but have covered in nine of the last 13 vs the Panthers. Tampa Bay will unleash 60 minutes of fury on this feisty Carolina team, covering the spread fairly easily.
McCaffrey is doubtful for the Panthers with a shoulder injury he sustained vs Kansas City. The overall success of the Buccaneers’ 2020 season likely hinges on the trajectory the team takes following the unholy beatdown they suffered to the Saints. I don’t see Brady or anyone else on this Super Bowl-caliber Tampa Bay team allowing a slip up in Carolina.
Brady will be gunning and gritty right out of the chute and should match or surpass Mahomes’ performance of a week ago. The over has hit in 17 of the Buccaneers’ last 23 games. Tampa Bay enjoys a measure of redemption with a big win in Charlotte.
Prediction: Buccaneers 38, Panthers 24
