Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Philadelphia Eagles: Betting Guide
The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off an upset of the Carolina Panthers but will play host to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an underdog for the sixth straight week. Philadelphia is 2-0 against the NFC South, though facing the defending Super Bowl champions on Thursday night is stepping up a weight class. Las Vegas’ NFL odds have Tampa Bay as comfortable favorites. Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and NFL lines for Buccaneers vs Eagles.

Buccaneers vs Eagles Head-to-Head
The Philadelphia Eagles lead the all-time series against Tampa Bay 10-9 (7-8 regular season). However, the Buccaneers have won the last two meetings as underdogs. The total went over in both games and has gone over in seven of their last 10. Meanwhile, Tom Brady is 4-1 against Philadelphia, including beating the Eagles for his third Super Bowl title.
Betting on the Game
Tampa Bay should roll here. Let’s give props to Philadelphia for finding a way to upset Carolina and moving to 2-3 when the online sports betting odds had them at 0-5 to this point. But Tampa Bay will simply not lose to this caliber of opponent and not as a seven-point favorite.
Around four-fifths of wagers are being piled on the Buccaneers’ spread, though the line has stayed the same since opening. On the moneyline, Tampa opened at -290 and seen two-way action pushing it as high as -320. The Bucs are currently -300.
Philadelphia took down Atlanta and Carolina because these other NFC South teams had gaping holes that the Eagles were good enough to exploit. The Falcons have one of the worst defenses and couldn’t get their offense going while the Panthers revealed how bad their offensive line was.
Tampa Bay’s defense has also been atrocious but it has a solid offensive line and Brady has the offense humming. In fact, Brady could be the frontrunner for Offensive Player of the Year. Brady is on pace to throw 51 touchdown passes (48 in a 16-game season), leads the NFL in passing yards and has the Bucs third in points scored.
Philadelphia has twice allowed more than 40 points in a game. It is also giving up the third-most rushing yards (142.0) in the league. While not a strength for Tampa Bay, getting its running game going can only help the offense.
The Buccaneers have been unstoppable for the most part and it’s a big reason why they are 9-1 in their last 10 road games. Philadelphia has gone 1-5 straight-up as a home underdog but 4-2 ATS. The Eagles also went 4-0 ATS when it was an underdog by 6½ points or more.
Philadelphia has plenty of talent on both sides of the ball, but it is far too turnover-prone. This team will keep shooting itself on the foot and get buried. But it could always put up hefty points in garbage time to cover the spread, like it did against Kansas City.
The total could also go over thanks to the explosive offenses and questionable defenses. Four of Tampa’s last five games have gone over, though 52 points is a lot. Ten of Philadelphia’s last 15 games have gone under.
However, against teams with generous defenses, Philadelphia has found itself getting into high-scoring affairs. So the scores and odds should reflect a game more like the ones against Dallas and Kansas City (total went over 60 points) than the one against Carolina.
