CFL Week 11 Power Rankings: New Kings of the Jungle?
Winnipeg Loses First Game But ...
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers remain atop the CFL Power Rankings. Seriously, even a loss to the lowly Montreal Alouettes is not enough to take Winnipeg out of the top spot. How soon people forget. The Blue Bombers dismantled the Lions in their matchup and remain ahead by a stretch in the outright Grey Cup football odds.
Where CFL Teams Stand Heading to Week 11
Remember, these Power Rankings are not just based on recent performances. We heavily factor in the team’s future prospects and we’d still bet online on Winnipeg to beat BC.

1. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (9-1)
- Last Week: 1
They finally lost. Winnipeg’s 11-game unbeaten streak, dating back to last year’s playoffs, ended with a missed field goal in overtime. The Blue Bombers now get a much-deserved bye week as they prepare to face the Calgary Stampeders for the third time.
Next Game: vs Calgary Stampeders (5-3) (Week 12)
2. BC Lions (7-1)
- Last Week: 2
It got kind of ugly in Calgary. But when things got grim, Nathan Rourke and the Lions roared back to edge the Stampeders. Just as we expected, superior quarterback play pushed the Lions to a win. BC now looks like what Calgary used to be in a game that was an emblematic “passing of the torch.”
Next Game: at Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-4)
3. Calgary Stampeders (5-3)
- Last Week: 3
It was a painful loss for the Stampeders as they squandered a 15-point lead in the final third of the game. Had Calgary held on to beat BC, they’d be at the second spot. Alas, Calgary is now 0-3 against the top two teams and looks like a distant third-placer at this point.
Next Game: at Toronto Argonauts (4-4)
4. Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-4)
- Last Week: 4
Cody Fajardo is at his lowest point as a quarterback right now as Saskatchewan needed a late-game push to take out the dismal Edmonton Elks. Still, a win is a win. If the Roughriders are finding ways to win despite poor QB play, we can’t knock them for it.
Next Game: vs BC Lions (7-1)
5. Toronto Argonauts (4-4)
- Last Week: 5
We were tempted to knock Toronto all the way down to the seventh spot because it has been playing like a bottom-three team. However, this team beat Saskatchewan twice and was this close to being the first team to beat Winnipeg.
Next Game: vs Calgary Stampeders (5-3)
6. Montreal Alouettes (3-6)
- Last Week: 8
Montreal is this week’s biggest mover for obvious reasons. The Alouettes were also one of three teams that beat Winnipeg last season, even if it came against mostly backups. Still, we’d like to see more consistency from Montreal as they remain Grey Cup long shots on the online sportsbook.
Next Game: vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3-6)
7. Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3-6)
- Last Week: 7
The Tiger-Cats stay put despite their gutsy comeback win against Toronto. They get a chance to move up all the way to the fifth spot if they can beat Montreal this coming week. Should they do it, Hamilton will be squarely behind Toronto for the division lead.
Next Game: at Montreal Alouettes (3-6)
8. Edmonton Elks (2-7)
- Last Week: 6
We’ve been Elks apologists for what seemed like forever, but thanks to Montreal’s and Hamilton’s wins, Edmonton goes back to the eighth spot. It’s not over for Edmonton, though. It has a chance to go 3-0 against the East with a win over Ottawa.
Next Game: at Ottawa Redblacks (1-7)
9. Ottawa Redblacks (1-7)
- Last Week: 9
The Redblacks couldn’t ask for a better opponent coming off a bye. The Elks always find ways to lose games so if Ottawa can’t find a way to beat Edmonton … Paul LaPolice’s seat may just go up in flames.
Next Game: vs Edmonton Elks (2-7)
