The Toronto Argonauts held off a late rally from the Ottawa Redblacks to win their third straight game. The winning streak is the longest for the “Boatmen” all season as they improve to 7-5 and stretch their lead over the Eastern Division. If the Argos are trending in this final third of the season, they could be a real threat on the CFL football odds moving forward.
Where CFL Teams Stand Heading to Week 15
But despite their winning streak, Toronto remains a distant third on the sportsbook’s Grey Cup odds. If they keep winning, their line should shorten, and they could be just behind Winnipeg on the Power Rankings.
1. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (12-1)
- Last Week: 1
Winnipeg set all kinds of records when it destroyed Saskatchewan in the Banjo Bowl 54-20. The 34-point victory marked Winnipeg’s largest in the 18 editions of the annual rematch, while the 54 points are the most Winnipeg has scored since 2018.
Next Game: vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3-9)
2. Calgary Stampeders (8-4)
- Last Week: 2
The Stampeders saw the Bombers’ 54 points and outdid them by dropping 56 points against the hapless Elks hours after the Banjo Bowl. Tommy Stevens scored four touchdowns as the Stamps padded their stats. They now get a golden opportunity to widen the gap between them and the shorthanded Lions.
Next Game: vs. BC Lions (8-3)
3. Toronto Argonauts (7-5)
- Last Week: 3
Toronto gets a well-earned bye week as the Boatmen cemented their standing atop the East. The Argonauts can further bury the Redblacks next week as they come closer to clinching the division. Their defense is arguably just as good as Winnipeg’s when they are playing like this.
Next Game: vs Ottawa Redblacks (3-10) (Week 16)
4. Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-7)
- Last Week: 4
Once upon a time, the Roughriders were a class above the Bombers. But that seems like a lifetime ago, as Saskatchewan is clearly outmatched. They need a bounce-back win in a home game against Edmonton as they face Winnipeg one final time before the postseason in Week 17.
Next Game: vs Edmonton Elks (3-10)
5. Montreal Alouettes (5-7)
- Last Week: 7
It’s difficult to place Montreal as the ever-inconsistent team rebounded to dispatch the Lions. Montreal’s defense returned to form, forcing six turnovers from BC while limiting the team to just 251 total yards. If Montreal can maintain this after their bye, it can be a lucrative underdog to bet online in the playoffs.
Next Game: vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3-9) (Week 16)
6. BC Lions (8-3)
- Last Week: 5
As Montreal and Toronto pick up momentum, the Lions keep sliding. Vernon Adams was not quite ready to lead the team as the Lions lost a second straight game. Nathan Rourke is “feeling good” after his surgery, and fans will keep a close eye on his status as the team desperately needs him.
Next Game: vs Calgary Stampeders (8-4)
7. Ottawa Redblacks (3-9)
- Last Week: 6
Ottawa had a late push against Toronto, but it was too little too late as Nick Arbuckle lost his first game as a starter for the team. The Redblacks get an extra week to get revenge and finally win a home game, where they are 0-6 for the year.
Next Game: vs Toronto Argonauts (7-5) (Week 16)
8. Edmonton Elks (3-10)
- Last Week: 8
We’re tempted to fork Edmonton as we did to Ottawa a few weeks back. Maybe doing that will push this team to go on a winning streak as it now has tied for the longest home losing streak in the CFL with 14.
Next Game: vs Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-7)
9. Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3-9)
- Last Week: 9
Hamilton faces seemingly unwinnable odds as it has no stable quarterback and hosts the Blue Bombers coming off a 54-point performance. Should the “Tabbies” pull this off, it may as well be their Grey Cup moment.
Next Game: vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers (12-1)
