We don’t mind if a team struggles, but we’d like to see some fight. The Jacksonville Jaguars showed little fight when losing 50-10 to the New England Patriots last week.
Unfortunately for the Jaguars, the problem stems on both sides of the ball. They average 27th in points scored and 22nd in points allowed, so we’re not surprised by their 2-14 record.
The two wins came at home, so that’s a positive ahead of the Colts. Jacksonville’s most recent win came against the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 7, so despite winning as a 14½-point underdog, it has been a long time between drinks.
Betting online markets have had the Jaguars as double-digit underdogs in four of their last 10 games. They are just 4-12 against the spread, so they haven’t been a profitable team to follow.
Scoring just 54 points from their last five games isn’t good enough. Losing Travis Etienne Jr. in the preseason hasn’t helped, but quarterback and top NFL draft pick Trevor Lawrence has been a massive flop.
Colts Ready to Fire
Losing to the Las Vegas Raiders last week was a shock to the system for the Indianapolis Colts.
They could have clinched a playoff spot, but the 23-20 home defeat puts the pressure on to perform in Jacksonville.
After beating Houston, New England and Arizona, it looked like a formality for the Colts. The slip-up could be costly, but if you can’t beat either the Raiders or Jaguars in the final two weeks, you don’t deserve to make the playoffs.
The Colts are 10-6 ATS, so they have been a good bet. Prior to the Raiders loss, they had been one of the NFL best bets. They have scored 100 points and allowed 56 points over the last four weeks, which is a solid record.
However, there are some concerning betting trends against the Jaguars. The Colts are 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings in Jacksonville and 1-11-1 ATS in their last 13 meetings overall.
They would have to defy recent history to cover the double-digit spread.
