Commanders vs Eagles Betting Key: Can Saquon Be Stopped? Jan 26
- Saquon Barkley has 296 rushing yards vs the Commanders in 2024.
- Washington allowed the third-most rushing yards in the NFL this season.
- Barkley surpassed his BetUS sportsbook prop of 130.5 rushing yards in four straight games.
The Philadelphia Eagles collide with the Washington Commanders this weekend for an unlikely matchup in the NFC Championship Game. The Eagles, yeah, that makes sense. They’ve been one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl all season. But the Commanders?

It is a team of talented but somewhat forgotten names who rallied behind a rookie quarterback in Jayden Daniels. If the Commanders can pull off the upset, Daniels would become the first rookie QB to lead his team all season and make the Super Bowl.
I actually like the Commanders. They are on my weekend NFL predictions with a solid chance to upset the Eagles. But it’s not going to be a walk in the park. The biggest concern for Washington bettors should be the herculean task of trying to stop Philly running back Saquon Barkley.
Can the Commanders stop Saquon Barkley? In a word: No. He’s the Wilt Chamberlain of the NFC title game. You can’t stop him. You can only hope to control him. And that is the real question here. Can the Commanders control Barkley and avoid getting embarrassed for the third time this season?
Barkley vs Commanders Betting Analysis
Eagles RB has Owned Washington in 2024
One thing the Commanders do not have going for them is a strong history of containing Barkley. It’s quite the opposite. In his two games against Washington this year, Barkley has a combined 296 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. He added 52 yards on two catches, per Commanders vs Eagles stats.
Honestly, it shouldn’t be a massive surprise that Barkley runs on this team like cheap hair dye on a rainy day. The Commanders, after all, allowed the third-most rushing yards in the league with an average of 138.9 yards per game. It’s not as if things are looking up, either, with their average up to 150 yards over their last three games.

I don’t usually put too much stock in stats that go back more than a season, but Barkley has made a habit of crushing Washington. Whether the Commanders or Redskins, Barkley has 1,090 yards against them in 199 attempts. He’s got 12 touchdowns to show for his hard work against his longtime NFC East rivals and will be a popular option in NFL player prop picks.
Barkley is Dominating Everyone
To be fair to Philly, Barkley had a historic season in 2024, making NFL news headlines weekly. He could have easily broken the all-time rushing record had he not been sat against the New York Giants in Week 18. That week off did a body well, and Barkley has been unstoppable in the playoffs.
First up was a 119-yard game against the Packers, which was pedestrian by his standards. But, last week, he cruised to 205 yards and two touchdowns against the Rams in the NFC Divisional Round. He averaged an absurd 7.9 yards per carry and logged 26 touches. He added four catches on four targets for 27 yards, per NFL betting trends.
As a New York Giants fan, I hate seeing him succeeding quickly with a bitter rival. But, on the other hand, I’m happy that he’s finally on a team that can let him shine.

Barkley is such a beast that his NFL odds for the Conference Championship list his Over/Under yardage total at 129.5. I can’t remember the last time I saw a total that high. And this is a conference title game!
As high as that number is, Barkley has hit that mark in four straight games. Three of those games were against playoff teams (WAS, GB, LAR), and there is no reason to think that the Commanders will suddenly figure out how to defeat the rush. If you bet online, keep riding him.
Question Of The Day
Who has the most rushing yards in a single NFL season?
Eric Dickerson holds the single-season rushing record with 2,105 yards in 1984 as a member of the Los Angeles Rams.
