Defensive Star Myles Garrett Has Requested a Trade From Cleveland

After Being Deemed Untradeable a Week Ago, 4X All-Pro Edge Myles Garrett Has Officially Requested a Trade

End of an Era: Myles Garrett Wants Out of Cleveland

All right, whoever has the American Sports Jumanji board can stop playing like their life depended on it. Following the Luka Doncic trade shocker in the NBA, NFL news reporters have officially reported that Myles Garrett, the Cleveland Browns’ defensive megastar, has requested a trade from Cleveland to join a title-contending team next season.

In a heartfelt letter to Browns fans stating that this is “one of the toughest decisions” in his life, Garrett let the world know that while he cherishes his time in Cleveland, his desire to win a Super Bowl, his main reason for competing in the NFL, has driven him to request to be traded.

Following eight seasons in which Garrett has established himself as the premier edge rusher in the league, with four First-Team All-Pro nods, one NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, two Second-Team All-Pro recognitions, and six Pro Bowls, and one of the coolest Halloween costumes this season, it’s easily arguable that all he has left to win is a Lombardi Trophy.

So what’s next for Garrett’s Hall of Fame-worthy career?

Garrett Deserves a Shot to Win a Super Bowl

Right after Garrett’s trade news hit, the Browns wasted no time in making their stance and felt that they were in no way interested in holding any conversations whatsoever regarding a trade package for their star edge rusher.

But with NFL rumors starting to blow up on potential landing spots for one of this season’s top sack leaders, before talking shop on possible suitors for Garrett, a little mea-culpa needs to be played here.

While Garrett’s desire to win a championship is a fair reason to leave the Browns, you can’t tell me the team’s toxic culture, constant dysfunction, and failure to give their key players reasons to stay didn’t also play a role.

A couple of weeks ago, I remember writing a piece on what the Browns should do with Deshaun Watson, and now, all I can think of is, there you go Cleveland, that’s what you get for being so incompetent.

Instead of doing the right thing and getting rid of a player like Watson and trying to rebuild the team and its culture, centering the project around players who actually want to succeed like Garrett, now you have to do without the most significant player to don a Browns jersey since Jim Brown and Joe Thomas.

Garrett is the kind of player who can significantly improve any team’s championship betting odds, which is why every squad in the NFL is probably already crunching numbers and coming up with trade packages to land him. As far as the Browns go, they’ll just have to live with not knowing what they had until it was gone.

In all honesty, if any Browns fans decide the best idea is to get mad at Garrett here, they should take a good look in the mirror and then run right into it. It’s not Myles you need to be angry at here. It will never be him.

Which Teams Could Snag Up Garrett?

If you were a part of any NFL franchise, got a glimpse of Myles Garrett’s stats, and found out he was looking for a new team to play for, how long would it take you to start thinking about mortgaging everything you own to try and land him?

What’s that? Two seconds? Yes, exactly what I thought.

Before NFL picks and predictions gurus start blowing up with what every team could offer, it’d be safest to start ruling out teams with no real place in any potential Garrett trade conversations.

Considering Myles wants to play for a team with true title contention potential, the list of teams who could make a strong push for him narrows down to a who’s who of the league’s creme de la creme.

Can you imagine Garrett lining up with Chris Jones, George Karlaftis, and Nick Bolton in Kansas City? Or what about Garrett spearheading Buffalo’s defense moving forward?

If he took his talents to the NFC, how would a defense led by Nick Bosa, Garrett, and Fred Warner sound in San Francisco? Or maybe, just maybe, what if he links up with former Browns teammate Za’Darious Smith, joining Aidan Hutchinson in Detroit’s D?

Man, it must probably stink to be the Browns right now.
