Does Davante Adams Make the Los Angeles Rams the Favorites in the NFC West in 2025?
The Rams Could Be the Team to Beat in the NFC West After Adding Davante Adams
Davante Adams Elevates the Rams’ Super Bowl Hopes
While NFL free agency doesn’t officially start until Wednesday afternoon, there have already been many key signings and NFL news about deals to come. Some of the biggest transactions over the weekend involved NFC West teams.
The Seahawks are going to look much different now than quarterback Geno Smith (Raiders) and wide receiver D.K. Metcalf (Steelers) have been traded to the AFC. We’ll see what plan Seattle has for 2025, but it doesn’t look good right now for that team to be a contender this season.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals are still a work in progress, and the 49ers have already lost Deebo Samuel to the Commanders with NFL rumors that Brandon Aiyuk could be on the move next. The 49ers have already seen their Super Bowl LX odds drop from +750 a week ago to +1400 at BetUS now.
That’s still the best odds in the NFC West, but what about the Los Angeles Rams (+2400 at BetUS)? After adding Davante Adams on Sunday, the Rams could have the talent to repeat as division champions and seek their third Super Bowl appearance under coach Sean McVay.
It’s been four weeks since that forgettable Super Bowl, but let’s not forget it was the Rams who came closer than anyone to knocking off the Eagles in the playoffs. They may have done it if not for that Jalen Carter sack.
Why the Rams Look Like Good Value Today
The Rams are deal makers, already re-signing Matthew Stafford to keep their quarterback happy. Both sides finally came to their senses that this marriage is worth saving as Stafford wouldn’t find a better spot for 2025, and the Rams likely wouldn’t find a better QB1.
But while there is the expectation that they’ll move the often-injured Cooper Kupp, adding Davante Adams to go along with ball-hog Puka Nacua is a dream for Stafford. Remember, Calvin Johnson and Kupp are the only receivers in NFL history to have a 1,900-yard receiving season, and Stafford was the quarterback for both.
He is one of the best in history at force-feeding his best receiver the ball, and he could have his choice of doing that with either player this year, as Adams will hopefully stay healthier than Kupp, who wasn’t much of a factor down the stretch of 2024.
- Puka Nacua’s career averages: 6.6 receptions and 88.4 receiving yards per game.
- Cooper Kupp’s career averages: 6.1 receptions and 74.8 receiving yards per game.
- Davante Adams’ career averages: 5.8 receptions and 72.2 receiving yards per game.
Keep in mind there are only 15 players in NFL history (min. two seasons played) to average at least 5.5 catches and 70 yards per NFL games for their careers.
If Davante Adams’ stats can help the offense, let’s not forget the Rams’ young defense led the way for that division title last year. Jared Verse is the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. Kobie Turner (17.0 sacks) and Byron Young (15.5 sacks) rank No. 2 and No. 3 in sacks for the 2023 draft class. The Rams could still draft a difference-maker in the secondary too.
This team has the right mixture of youth, key veterans, and one of the best coaches to trust to be a big factor in the 2025 NFC race.
