After a dramatic few weeks with a “four days of darkness retreat” to contemplate his future, Aaron Rodgers announced he is heading to the New York Jets.
Rodgers joined the Pat McAfee show on March 15th to clear up some NFL rumors and to let the world know of his final decision.
“I made it clear my intention was to play and to play for the New York Jets, and I haven’t been holding anything up. It’s the compensation that the Packers are trying to get. … The Packers want to move on and have let me know that in so many words,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers explained how his few days in the dark helped to decide whether or not he wanted to retire from the NFL. Said he even had some hallucinations…

Rodgers, aka the biggest diva in the league, also called out the media for being overly dramatic after it was reported that Rodgers sent some sort of wish list of players to the Jets that he’d like them to pursue as a part of the agreement. He called that all “ridiculous” and said his only demand was “transparency.”
“People want these things to be so true that like, I’m in this meeting dressed in ceremonial regalia, giving them some sort of handwritten [note] on parchment to demand a list of people they need to sign,” he said. That was hilarious.
So, while all of this is great for New York and the Jets from a marketing and entertainment standpoint… most relatively sane quarterbacks or humans would sit down with their family to discuss what they might want to do and not make a big show of it. But Rodgers is most definitely far from your typical level-headed NFL player and well-known for hating his family, which makes sense as to why the California boy chose the complete opposite side of the country to play in.

Speaking of play, Rodgers did not play like the 4x MVP player that he used to be. Remember that the Packers didn’t make the playoffs in 2022 AND lost to the Lions. Honestly, why are we still making his name so relevant?
It’s also worth monitoring the fact that Rodgers, when he gets to NY, will have to deal with the toughest media market in the NFL. A ruthless bunch.
Will Mr. Princess Peach be able to handle that? Or will he want out after a week? This could all make for a binge-worthy reality show. Stay tuned…
