Why Bet The Geelong Cats
While Geelong finished the regular season in fourth place in the AFL ladder, the Cats have looked fantastic since the start of the postseason. Geelong routed Collingwood 100-32 in the quarterfinals on Oct.10 before recording an equally emphatic 82-42 blowout win of Brisbane in the semifinals on Saturday. More importantly, the Cats have a ton of momentum after winning nine of their last 11 games. The bad news is that one of Geelong’s losses during the stretch was a humbling 57-31 loss against Richmond on Sept. 11.
Now, the oldest team to reach a grand final, the Cats are looking forward to extending their winning ways while exacting some revenge against the defending champions.
“We are very similar in certain respects but the differences are very stark as well,” Geelong coach Chris Scott said of the grand finalists.
Why Bet The Richmond Tigers
Richmond finished the regular season in third placer. The Tigers beat the hell out of overmatched St Kilda 80-49 in the quarterfinals on Oct. 10 before following that win up with a more difficult 46-40 win over league-leading Port Adelaide on Saturday.
More importantly, Richmond has plenty of momentum after winning eight of their last nine games. Now, the defending champions will look to repeat and coach Damien Hardwick is already throwing shade at the Geelong Cats.
“Our game is better,” Hardwick said after the Tigers’ road win over league-leading Port Adelaide last weekend. “We’re more consistent … we don’t rely on any one player to dominate like some other sides do.”
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
Richmond might be defending champs and it might be favored to repeat, but I like Geelong for the huge upset after watching their last two playoff performances. The Cats have looked absolutely unstoppable on offense and should be able to put their fair share of points on the board in the grand final. The Tigers didn’t look overly impressive in their narrow win over Port Adelaide and the Cats are hungry.
I believe Richmond’s hard-fought battle against the Power took something out of the defending champs and that Geelong will benefit from that exhausting affair. Geelong has averaged a whopping 91 points over their last two games and I believe the Cats will have just enough gas left to finish off the Richmond Tigers in the 2020 AFL Grand Final.
