Homeless in Seattle? Betting on the Seahawks’ Travel-Heavy Schedule

The road to the playoffs is rarely smooth, but for the Seattle Seahawks, it might be downright bumpy. Unlike most teams with stretches of home-field advantage, the Seahawks’ schedule lacks consistency, featuring stretches with frequent travel and minimal time to settle in at their home stadium.

This unusual scheduling quirk could be a significant factor in their playoff hopes. NFL betting markets clearly don’t expect a deep run either, with the Seahawks boasting +8000 odds to win the Super Bowl. Let’s delve deeper into the Seahawks’ schedule and see how this lack of home comfort might impact their performance.

Seahawks’ Schedule Limits Home Field Advantage

A major strength of the Seahawks is their ability to play better football at home, and playing at least three in a row at home helps. However, the NFL has made life harder for them.

The Seahawks won’t be able to settle in Seattle, instead, they travel at least once every three weeks, and although it might not seem like a big thing, it is.

However, they play two of their first three games at home, against the Denver Broncos and then the Miami Dolphins in Week 3. Keeping up with Miami’s blistering offense could be difficult, so bettors should pencil in a loss.

It’s a brutal schedule, their next three home games come against the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, and Buffalo Bills. I expect them to win only one of those games.

Late-Season Schedule Could Reward Sharp Bettors

It’s not all a dire situation for the Seahawks, who have some winnable games following their bye in Week 10.

They face the Giants on the road first, but then they’re greeted by the Cardinals, Jets, and Cardinals again. They could go 3-0 during that stretch, and depending on their standings, that could propel them up the division ladder.

Ending the year against the Packers, Vikings, Bears, and Rams is difficult, but all games are winnable. The sportsbook will have them as underdogs in all except against the Bears, so there’s a good chance to get some value betting odds during the stretch.

The Seahawks could potentially win four of their last eight games. If they do, they could improve on their 9-8 record from last season. They also need to play well against NFC West rivals. Beating the 49ers and Rams won’t be easy, as they showed during 2023-24.

Beating the Cardinals is where they can make up ground, however, I can’t see them beating the 49ers, who are one of the Super Bowl betting favorites.
