QB Gardner Minshew II finished without a passing touchdown for the first time since Week 9 of last season. However, running back James Robinson set a record for the most yards from scrimmage for an undrafted rookie through three games in NFL history, with 339. Robinson rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns and caught six passes for 83 yards in Week 3.
The Cincinnati Bengals tied the Philadelphia Eagles, 23-23, in Week 3. This was the first tie of the season. Joe Burrow passed for 312 yards with two touchdowns and no picks. Tyler Boyd led all receivers with 125 yards, and rookie Tee Higgins caught both Burrow touchdowns. The Bengals’ running game continued to struggle, as they only managed 48 yards on 18 carries.

Head-to-Head
Jacksonville has won 13 of its 22 total games against Cincinnati, including the last two. The Jaguars won at Cincinnati last year, 27-17, as Minshew completed less than half of his passes and had his second-lowest completion percentage of the 2019 season. Both teams have shaken up their offenses since, as the Bengals drafted Burrow to take over quarterbacking duties and the Jaguars released Leonard Fournette prior to the season.

Last Game
The Jaguars disappointed at home last week, falling to the Dolphins in a matchup of two of the NFL’s three Florida franchises. It was the first game the Jaguars were favored to win. Minshew finished 30-for-42 for 275 yards with an interception. Miami QB Ryan Fitzpatrick threw two touchdowns and ran for one and became the first player to win six games against the same opponent with six different teams.
Robinson made NFL history and added two rushing touchdowns for the Jags but it wasn’t nearly enough. Miami got out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, from a 1-yard Jordan Howard run and a 3-yard pass from Fitzpatrick to WR Preston Williams. Jacksonville cut the lead in half in the second quarter but Miami scored another touchdown seven minutes later and went into halftime with a commanding 21-7 lead.
With the win, the Dolphins picked up their first victory after dropping games to divisional rivals and 2019 playoff teams New England in Week 1 and Buffalo in Week 2. In Week 4 the Dolphins take on the Seahawks in Miami.
Stats Pack
Along with the most yards from scrimmage by an undrafted player through three games, Robinson also became the only undrafted player to record more than 300 yards from scrimmage with multiple touchdowns.
After throwing three touchdowns in each of the Jaguars’ first two games, Minshew couldn’t manage to continue his streak. He does, however, have an impressive 73.8 completion percentage through the first three weeks, ranking sixth in the league.
After averaging 2.9 sacks per game in 2019, the Jaguars defense has only managed 3 sacks through three games. Meanwhile, Minshew has been sacked 10 times through the first three games.
Trends
Entering Week 3 as 2½-point favorites against Miami, the Jaguars lost against the spread by 20.5 points.
Jacksonville is 1-4 SU in their last five games on the road
Jacksonville is 3-8 SU in their last 11 games dating back to last season and 2-6 in their last 8 October games. However, they are an impressive 9-0-1 ATS in their last 10 games against AFC North competition.
K Josh Lambo is on IR. The Jaguars picked up Stephen Hauschka on Monday, but he didn’t practice on Wednesday due to a knee issue. If Hauschka can’t play it’ll be interesting to see what the Jaguars backup plan is.

Last Game
After trailing at halftime, Cincinnati took a 17-16 lead against the Eagles with two minutes left in the third quarter, courtesy of a four-yard touchdown pass from Burrow to Higgins. K Randy Bullock hit field goals on successive drives to give the Bengals a 23-16 lead. Eagles QB Carson Wentz continued to struggle, throwing two interceptions. However, he did cap off a 75-yard drive with a four-yard scramble for a touchdown to tie the game with 21 seconds remaining.
The game went into overtime. The Eagles had an opportunity to kick a game-winning 64-yard field goal with 19 seconds left but coach Doug Pederson opted to punt. With both offenses failing to score in the extra period, this game produced the first tie of the NFL season. Both teams remain winless at 0-2-1. Philadelphia will try to improve on its disastrous start, as the Eagles take on the 49ers in Week 4.
Stats Pack
The Bengals will certainly have some positives to take away from a game they were 5½-point underdogs in. Bullock hit crucial 25-, 31-, and 48-yard field goals after he missed a 31-yard game-tying field goal against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1. Burrow continued his stellar play, continuing to give Bengals fans hope that their number one draft pick could be their franchise quarterback. The Bengals pass rush also put a decent amount of pressure on Wentz, sacking him three times and forcing two interceptions.
The Bengals gave up 175 rushing yards to the Eagles, slightly decreasing their average rushing yards allowed per game to 181.7. Teams have been exploiting their lack of ability to stop the run and it’s been a major stumbling block in picking up their first win of the year.
Joe Burrow made more history in Week 3, as he set a record for most completions by a quarterback in his first three games. He has a whopping 91 completions, averaging over 30 per game.
Trends
Cincinnati snapped a 14-game road losing streak against the Eagles. The Bengals haven’t fared much better at home recently, as they have gone 2-7 since the beginning of the 2019 season.
The total has gone over in five of Cincinnati’s last seven games
Geno Atkins was limited at Wednesday’s practice. It was the first time he has suited up since suffering a shoulder injury at training camp and he’s questionable for Sunday’s game. He’s missed 10 games during his career with the Bengals. In these games, the Bengals are 5-4-1 SU and 7-3 ATS.

Betting on the Game
Point Spread: Bengals -3
The Bengals are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games ATS. In that same span, the Jaguars are 4-6 ATS.
The Bengals came into Week 3 as 5½-point underdogs against the Eagles and were seconds away from winning, let alone covering. The Jaguars lost by 18 points in Week 3 in a game they were favored to win. However, Jacksonville has found a second gear in the fourth quarters, as they have scored 9.7 points per game and allowed 3 points per game, the latter is the best mark in the league. In the games immediately following a Jacksonville loss as a favorite last season, they were 1-3 ATS. Last week marked the first time the Bengals won two straight games ATS since the 2018 season.
Moneyline: Jaguars +145 | Bengals -165
After starting the first two weeks of the season strongly, winning against a 2-1 Colts team, and dropping a tight one to the 3-0 Titans, Jacksonville’s 18-point home loss to Miami in Week 3 certainly raises questions. They’ll look to James Robinson early and often against the Bengals’ run defense, which is ranked second to last in the league.
The Bengals are favorites to win for the first time this season; the last time they won as a favorite was Dec. 16, 2018, against the then-Oakland Raiders. This Bengals team, while still winless, has shown encouraging signs, mainly the play of Burrow. While 0-2-1, they’ve been competitive in every game they’ve played. Burrow will be confident of getting his first NFL win against an inconsistent Jaguars team.
Over/Under: 49½ Points
Prior to scoring 13 points against Miami, The Jaguars averaged 28.5 points per game in their first two games. After dropping 13 points against the Chargers in Week 1, the Bengals have averaged 26.5 points in their last two games. After not throwing a single touchdown in his NFL debut and throwing a pick, Burrow has thrown 5 touchdowns to no interceptions in his last two games. Both offenses are inconsistent, and Cincinnati’s has often been bad. They rank last in the league in yards per play and 30th in rushing yards. Jacksonville has been elite in third-down situations and in the red zone, ranking second in the league for both third down and red zone efficiency.
