Jets Tell Rodgers They’re Moving On From Him, So What’s Next For Aaron?
After an Awful Tenure With the Jets, What’s Next for the Future Hall of Famer?
It’s Splitsville Between the Jets and Rodgers
There once was a time at Florham Park when the New York Jets thought they had finally found the missing puzzle piece to all of their constant NFL miseries.
After signing former Green Bay Packers and future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers two seasons ago, the sun was shining bright, and New York’s betting odds were one of the hottest commodities in town.

Eighteen mostly dreadful NFL games later in those two seasons and one of the team’s most dreadful seasons in recent history, it seems the Jets have finally pulled the plug on the Rodgers experience.
So much for Rodgers wanting a break this offseason, right?
As informed by NFL news guru Jay Glazer, the team met with Rodgers last week and informed the passer of its decision to move forward into 2025 without him leading the offense.
Let’s check in with @JayGlazer! ⬇️

With speculations surrounding Rodgers’ future not only with the Jets but in the league in general, there were even talks of the passer’s career coming to an end before the start of the new season.
Most importantly, though, as news of New York saying goodbye to Rodgers spread, the team set in stone an even more important message: The time for playing around and passing leadership and decision-making is over.
This is Aaron Glenn’s team to coach and lead, and accountability will be the first and most crucial trait from now on.

With various teams in dire need of a QB for this coming season, which teams could position themselves as the best fits for Rodgers? And also, who will take over the QB 1 position in New York next season?
Where Will Aaron Go Now?
After all NFL rumors became a reality about the Rodgers/Jets split, the first question here is, where should Aaron Rodgers take his talents next?

Considering Rodgers doesn’t seem ready to retire yet, two teams have already started taking the lead in the sweepstakes for the passer. One is just coming off yet another season making the playoffs, even while juggling around QBs in its offense for part of the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The other happens to have the No.1 pick in this year’s NFL draft, a pick I had them using to select a franchise QB in my first mock draft, the Tennessee Titans.
So, who makes more sense for Rodgers?

Off the bat, let me go ahead and knock Tennessee out of the running. Sorry Titans fans, but if Rodgers’ tenure with the Jets showed us anything, it’s that having him join a team in shambles whose only hope is shooting a prayer and hoping for the best won’t cut it.
The Steelers, on the other hand, seem like a perfect fit, considering their playoff pedigree, strong culture, and the chance for its Super Bowl odds to rise with the addition of Rodgers.
When the idea of Rodgers leaving Green Bay started surfacing in the early 2020s, Pittsburgh was already deemed one of the best destinations for the future HOFer. So why not circle back to that idea now?

The combination of Rodgers and Mike Tomlin could work great if both can agree to live harmoniously.
With Russell Wilson leaving Pittsburgh and Justin Fields also ready to hit the free agency market, the Steelers could benefit from bringing in a player like Rodgers, who could look at this as a perfect opportunity to deliver an “F-U” to all his critics.
So why not Pittsburgh, why not?
Who Can Replace Rodgers?
Now that the Jets decided to kick Rodgers to the curve, one last question arises. Do they have a plan, an idea, or anything on who will take over the team’s QB 1 position?
If the team plays its cards right, options are plentiful. If they want to go after another veteran, players like Sam Darnols (the prodigal son story), Kirk Cousins, Pittsburgh’s Wilson and Fields, and maybe even Matthew Stafford could serve as options.
QBs the Jets CAN maybe get:
Stafford, Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, rookie, etc, etc
There are plenty of options better than a 41 year old QB that won 5 games battling injuries & is NOT going to get better & likely gets worse
A start for the Jets with Glenn IS a good thing

As a Jets fan, I’ll be the first to say I don’t hate the idea of Fields joining the Jets. If you want to talk about somebody with a chip on his shoulder and who still has plenty of unexplored potential, Fields is my dark horse here.
Comparing his stats to Aaron Rodgers’ stats last season is idiotic, but pairing him up with Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, and the rest of New York’s roster could do the trick, especially under Glenn’s guidance.
I’ve seen many #Jets fans on here that want us to get Justin Fields
Is this what you want❓ pic.twitter.com/dWi2ABFr54

If New York decides to go down the rookie QB road once again (because, damn, that’s paid off so well for the team), it will have to decide on either finding a way to trade up into the top three, where Cam Ward needs to be the only option or hoping that by some sort of miracle, a QB like Ole Miss’ Jaxon Dart is available either at #7 or early in the second round.
The top QB in this draft is Cam Ward
Do you want the #Jets to trade up & draft him❓
You would have to trade a lot to move up & get him, but if you believe he’s your guy… pic.twitter.com/Y9xNYXsV6v

Mark my words here: if the Jets can pull off landing Ward, prepare for an NFL picks and predictions juggernaut of a season in 2025.
