Kansas City Chiefs Game-by-Game Predictions & Preview

Week 1 at Arizona Cardinals – Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET
The Cardinals were one of the hottest teams in the first half of 2021 before the wheels came undone. However, after the drama-filled offseason between Kyler Murray and the organization and De’Andre Hopkins’ suspension, catching the Cards right out of the gates could be opportune.

Week 2 vs Los Angeles Chargers – Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, 8:15 p.m. ET
Although the Los Angeles Chargers and Chiefs split this series, Justin Herbert and Co. proved they were worthy rivals after stunning the AFC powerhouse on its turf, 30-24. So, for the first NFL Thursday Night Football game to be aired on Amazon’s Prime Video, it probably doesn’t get better than this burgeoning AFC West rivalry. Having said that, the Chargers will be hard-pressed to repeat. The short week, the earliness of this meeting and the new-look Chiefs offense are just some of the many things that will come to play.

Week 3 at Indianapolis Colts – Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, 1 p.m. ET
The team that’s a quarterback away from becoming a true contender. That’s the best way to describe the Colts. Attempts to address the glaring hole on their offense have successively failed. Will Matt Ryan, the latest to step up to the plate, be the long-awaited answer? Need to see it first!

Week 4 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, 8:20 p.m. ET
We’ve had five rounds of the kid vs. the GOAT. The first four were absolutely cracking matchups until Tom Brady and the Buccaneers ruthlessly pulverized Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense in Super Bowl 55. The 31-9 defeat was the most lopsided of their head-to-head and one of the worst defeats in the young gun’s fledgling NFL career. If this Super Bowl reprisal goes the way of the first four meetings, fans are in for a Sunday Night Football thriller that could go either way.

Week 5 vs Las Vegas Raiders – Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, 8:15 p.m. ET
On the only occasion that the Raiders beat Mahomes and the Chiefs in their house, they took a victory lap around Arrowhead Stadium, which didn’t go down well with Andy Reid. Suffice it to say, they haven’t beaten the Chiefs since, losing their ensuing three meetings including a series sweep last season.

Week 6 vs Buffalo Bills – Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET
Arguably, this is one of the best rivalries in the AFC and potentially an all-time great. Allen and Mahomes bring out the best in each other and the best out of their teams too. Last season, they split their meetings 1-1. Allen finally cracked the win column at Arrowhead Stadium. But Mahomes had the last laugh as the Chiefs defeated the Bills in a 78-point shootout in the playoffs. Expect another classic, high-scoring shootout between these two that could go either way.

Week 7 at San Francisco 49ers – Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET
Kyle Shanahan and the Niners are moving on from Jimmy Garoppolo and starting second-year quarterback Trey Lance. The Niners are a good team but their signal caller is a total unknown. The Chiefs should romp to victory at Levi Stadium.

Week 9 vs Tennessee Titans – Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, 8:20 p.m. ET
Ryan Tannehill and the Titans have had some success against the Chiefs in recent years, including last year’s shockingly lopsided 27-3 beatdown in Nashville. With the Chiefs enjoying home advantage for this rematch, it could be payback.

Week 10 vs Jacksonville Jaguars – Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, 1 p.m. ET
The Jaguars are in rebuild mode with new head coach Doug Pederson. Trevor Lawrence, the No.1 draft pick in 2021, should show improvement in his sophomore year. But he has a long way to go before he or the Jaguars can take on a team like the Chiefs and expect to win.

Week 11 at Los Angeles Chargers – Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET
From his first game in the NFL, Herbert went toe-to-toe with Mahomes and nearly pulled off the upset there and then. It took just one season for the young gun to do what many have tried and failed to do – defeat the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Herbert is the real deal. The Chargers are legitimate contenders and a real threat in the division and beyond. They’ll make their case at home.

Week 12 vs Los Angeles Rams – Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET
The last meeting between this pair was one for the record books – the Rams edged the Chiefs in a 54-51 thriller on Monday Night Football in 2018. Obviously, a lot has changed since then. Expecting this to be a replica as such would be asking for too much. That said, it should still be a cracking matchup against the reigning Super Bowl champs and you can bet Mahomes and the Chiefs will be up for it.

Week 13 at Cincinnati Bengals – Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET
The Bengals pulled off the unthinkable and beat the Chiefs twice in one year. They stunned the Chiefs late in the season, clinching the 34-31 win at Paul Brown Stadium in Week 17. Then, they beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, coming from behind to seize the 27-24 win in overtime and punched their tickets to Super Bowl 56. Undoubtedly, the Chiefs will want to set the record straight but it might be difficult on the road.

Week 14 at Denver Broncos – Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, 8:20 p.m. ET
Everyone is raving about the Russell Wilson trade to the Denver Broncos. The oddsmakers are fawning over Denver and bettors are buying into the “Mr. Unlimited” hype, believing it’s underwritten with Super Bowl potential. If there is a team that could burst that hallucinatory bubble, it’s the Chiefs.

Week 16 vs Seattle Seahawks – Saturday, Dec, 25, 2022, 1 p.m. ET

Week 17 vs Denver Broncos – Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, 1 p.m. ET
The Broncos haven’t beaten the Chiefs since 2015. Wilson might be an upgrade on the quarterbacks that have come and gone previously, but the results should be the same. This is a new team, working with a new quarterback and a new head coach.

Week 18 at Las Vegas Raiders – Sunday, Jan. 8. 2023, TBD
The Chiefs have dominated the Raiders in the Mahomes era. Last season, they swept the series convincingly, including the 41-14 win at Allegiant Stadium. If the final week of the season comes with playoff implications, betting against Mahomes would be foolhardy.
