Las Vegas Raiders Game-by-Game Predictions

Despite Offseason Moves, Uphill Battle Awaits

Despite all the big offseason moves, including hiring coach Josh McDaniels and snapping up All-Pro wideout Davante Adams, the Las Vegas Raiders face an uphill battle in a stacked AFC West Division.

As per the latest odds, the Raiders are the fourth-best bet to win the AFC West and at nearly three times the odds of their rivals, the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers. They’re also projected to the lowest win-total of 8½ in the division, albeit with OVER juiced to -135.

Las Vegas Raiders Game-by-Game Predictions

Week 1 at Los Angeles Chargers – Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

Talk about literally picking up where one left off! The NFL didn’t dawdle here, neatly rewinding back to the contentious AFC West showdown in Week 18 that simultaneously ended the Chargers’ playoff hopes and sent the Raiders (along with the Pittsburgh Steelers) through to the playoffs. The Chargers have a score to settle.

  • Prediction: Loss
  • Record: 0-1

Week 2 vs Arizona Cardinals – Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

On paper, this comes across as a tough matchup. However, after Arizona’s offseason that rivaled an episode of the Young and Restless, there’s reason to be wary about the Cardinals altogether ahead of 2022. Kyler Murray’s dissatisfaction, De’Andre Hopkins’ suspension and questionable roster moves are just some of many concerns. And then, there was the eye-popping contract (now amended) that gaslighted the young quarterback’s lack of preparation.

  • Prediction: Win
  • Record: 1-1

Week 3 at Tennessee Titans – Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, 1 p.m. ET

Despite the NFL odds, many are high on the Raiders after they hired McDaniels and acquired Adams. Separately, there are those that are down on the Titans after they bid adieu to A.J. Brown. At the crux of it all, the Raiders are all flash and pizzazz. The Titans are a no-nonsense football team that puts emphasis on the whole rather than individual elements. It’s a toss-up, but with the Titans at home, this will be a tough out for the star-studded Raiders.

  • Prediction: Loss
  • Record: 1-2

Week 4 vs Denver Broncos – Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

Preseason markets are high on the Russell-Wilson-led Broncos, even though they haven’t played a single competitive game together. Will they be all they’re cracked up to be? Dunno. Maybe. But the Raiders swept the Broncos in 2021. And this matchup comes early enough in the season for Wilson and the offense to be still ironing out the kinks.

  • Prediction: Win
  • Record: 2-2

Week 5 at Kansas City Chiefs – Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, 8:15 p.m. ET

Nine points. That’s all Carr managed against the Chiefs in a 48-9 loss in Kansas City last season. (It’s safe to say, no victory laps around Arrowhead Stadium were made in the team bus that day.) Will the Raiders show up for this MNF clash? Better yet: Can Carr go toe-to-toe with Patrick Mahomes?

  • Record: 2-3

Week 6 BYE

Week 7 vs Houston Texans – Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, 4:05 p.m. ET

It’s easy to dismiss the Houston Texans out of hand. They’ve been stripped to the studs and they’re beginning a new era under head coach Lovie Smith and a motley crew of players that many probably never even heard of. On paper, the Raiders are the better team. No question. But the Raiders can’t take anything for granted.

  • Prediction: Win
  • Record: 3-3

Week 8 at New Orleans Saints – Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, 1 p.m. ET

Trap game alert! The jury might be out on Jameis Winston, who’s coming off an injury. As well, the Saints as a whole are an unknown factor under newly minted head coach Dennis Allen, who has big shoes to fill in the wake of Sean Payton’s departure. But Allen is a bit of a defensive guru and the Saints D is elite.

  • Prediction: Loss
  • Record: 3-4

Week 9 at Jacksonville Jaguars – Sunday, Nov.6, 2022, 1 p.m. ET

The Jaguars have been the league’s punching bag for some time. New head coach Doug Pederson’s mandate is to change that tendency, but he’s unlikely to turn them around in his first year.

  • Prediction: Win
  • Record: 4-4

Week 10 vs Indianapolis Colts – Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, 4:05 p.m. ET

The Raiders narrowly edged the Carson-Wentz-inspired Colts 23-20 in Week 17 last season. Matt Ryan is being touted as an upgrade on Wentz, but that is down to perception, respectfully. Nevertheless, this one feels like a toss-up, even though we’re chalking the win to the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.

  • Prediction: Win
  • Record: 5-4

Week 11 at Denver Broncos – Sunday, Nov.20, 2022, 4:05 p.m. ET

Whether the Broncos deserve to be among the Top 5-ish preseason Super Bowl LVII favorites is debatable. That said, Wilson is a massive improvement on all the quarterbacks that’ve trotted onto the field in the wake of Peyton Manning’s retirement. Wilson will make the Broncos better. The Raiders will be hard-pressed to sweep this series as such.

  • Record: 5-5

Week 12 at Seattle Seahawks — Sunday, Nov.27, 2022, 4:05 p.m. ET

Everything the Seahawks are doing right now suggests they’re looking ahead to the 2023 NFL Draft to find Wilson’s replacement.

  • Prediction: Win
  • Record: 6-5

Week 13 vs Los Angeles Chargers – Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

Once again, the Chargers and Raiders meet late in the season when jockeying for divisional and playoff positioning is paramount. If both offenses are healthy, they’re sure to put on a good show. However, defense tips the balance toward the Chargers. And it improved substantially in the offseason with the additions of J.C Jackson and Khalil Mack.

  • Prediction: Loss
  • Record: 6-6

Week 14 at Los Angeles Rams – Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, 8:15 p.m. ET

The Raiders got no favors from the schedulers. The defending Super Bowl champions at SoFi Stadium on a short week and right on the heels of their pivotal divisional showdown with the Chargers must feel unfair. Three days to prepare for one of the league’s elite defenses after just staring down Joey Bosa and Co. is a big ask.

  • Prediction: Loss
  • Record 6-7

Week 15 vs New England Patriots – Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, 8:20 p.m. ET

McDaniels gets the benefit of a long week before coming face to face with his mentor, Bill Belichick. Every student aspires to surpass his teacher and pulling it off under the national gaze of prime-time football would be special. It’s easier said than done, however.

  • Prediction: Loss
  • Record: 6-8

Week 16 at Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022, 8:15 p.m. ET

The Steelers are a bit of an unknown with either Mitch Trubisky or Kenny Pickett leading the offense in 2022. However, Tomlin is a constant on the Pittsburgh sideline and the veteran defense is no slouch.

  • Prediction: Loss
  • Record: 6-9

Week 17 vs San Francisco 49ers — Sunday, Jan 1, 2023, 4:05 p.m. ET

Kyle Shanahan made it clear at the start of July’s training camp that the Niners are moving on from Jimmy Garoppolo. It’s Trey Lance’s team now. The same team that was one win away from Super Bowl 56 last season, mind you. Hmm … Will Shanahan rue that decision comes in Week 17? It’s very, very, possible.

  • Prediction: Win
  • Record: 7-9

Week 18 vs Kansas City Chiefs – Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, TBD

Talk about rubbing salt into the wound! Closing out the season against the six-time reigning AFC West champions isn’t ideal if things haven’t gone to plan..

  • Prediction: Loss
  • Record: 7-10
