One playoff spot remains in the NFC with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in position to clinch the NFC South title with a win over the New Orleans Saints. The Atlanta Falcons would win the division title with a win over Carolina and a loss by the Buccaneers.

The Washington Commanders made NFL news by earning the franchise’s first playoff spot since 2020. The Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Rams are division champions.

The Lions remain atop the NFC power rankings followed by the Vikings. The best could be saved for last with the Lions and Vikings meeting on Sunday Night Football. It is the only NFC game in Week 18 between teams with winning records.

Let’s take a look at the top contenders in the NFC as the Detroit Lions (+400) and Philadelphia Eagles (+650) have the shortest odds to win Super Bowl 59 among NFC teams.

Super Bowl LIX Rankings: Top 6 Contenders in the NFC

1. Detroit Lions (+200 to Win the NFC)

Last Week Ranking: 1

Detroit put up 40 points to edge the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football and remain atop the NFC power rankings.

The Lions finished undefeated on the road and with a win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18, Detroit will have home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs and won’t play another true road game this season.

Detroit has a 4,000-yard passer in Jared Goff, a 1,000-yard rusher in Jahmyr Gibbs and a 1,000-yard receiver in Amon-Ra St. Brown while Jameson Williams is 33 yards shy of joining St. Brown with at least 1000 receiving yards.

The Lions are 10-5 against the NFL spread as a favorite this season.

Bet the Detroit Lions to Win Super Bowl 59 (+400)

2. Minnesota Vikings (+375)

Last Week Ranking: 2

The Vikings had to hang on for a hard-earned win over the Green Bay Packers as Minnesota kept its hopes of a division title alive after winning its ninth consecutive game.

Per NFL betting trends, the Vikings are 10-0 in one-score games after the 27-25 victory over the Packers. Sam Darnold went over 4,000 yards while running back Aaron Jones is over 1,000 yards rushing in his first season with the Vikings.

Speaking of newcomers, Andrew Van Ginkel and Jonathan Greenard have combined for 22.5 sacks as the Vikings continue to be one of the biggest surprise teams in the NFL.

For those who bet online, the Vikings have won their last six games decided by eight points or less.

Bet the Minnesota Vikings to Win Super Bowl 59 (+800)

3. Philadelphia Eagles (+300)

Last Week Ranking: 3

The Eagles didn’t have quarterback Jalen Hurts in the Week 17 game against the rival Dallas Cowboys, but Philadelphia rolled to a 41-7 win to win the NFC East. The regular season ends on the road against the New York Giants.

There could be plenty of key players who may sit out the game since the Eagles have nothing to gain or lose in the game. Will running back Saquon Barkley get the chance to set the NFL’s single-season rushing record and do it against the team he broke into the NFL with?

Barkley, who is the No. 3 betting choice at +1600 in NFL MVP odds, has carried the ball 60 times for 317 yards in the last two games.

Bet the Philadelphia Eagles to Win Super Bowl 59 (+650)

4. Green Bay Packers (+700)

Last Week Ranking: 4

The 27-25 final score in a loss to Minnesota in Week 17 is a little deceiving as the Packers were outplayed for much of the game. Green Bay would be in contention for a division title in a couple of the NFC divisions instead of going on the road as a wild-card team.

Green Bay is 6-5 against NFC teams this season and that could be a cause for concern when the playoffs begin. Still, this is still not a team to overlook in the postseason.

Next up for the Packers is a Week 18 matchup with the Chicago Bears.

When making NFL picks, keep in mind that Green Bay is 1-4 against fellow NFC North Division teams and 10-1 against the rest of the NFL.

Bet the Green Bay Packers to Win Super Bowl 59 (+1600)

5. Washington Commanders (+1400)

Last Week Ranking: 5

It could be argued that the Washington Commanders could have jumped the Green Bay Packers for the No. 4 spot after beating the Atlanta Falcons in overtime to clinch a spot in the postseason.

Jayden Daniels threw three touchdown passes and also ran for 127 yards as he is closing in on the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Zach Ertz had the game-winning touchdown catch in overtime.

The NFL betting lines have Washington as the road favorite against the Dallas Cowboys for the first time since 2017.

Bet the Washington Commanders to Win Super Bowl 59 (+4000)

6. Los Angeles Rams (+1000)

Last Week Ranking: 6

These are not the Greatest Show On Turf Rams. However, they are division champions after other NFC West teams faded in the second half of the season.

The last three games had a total of 18, 28 and 22 points, with the Rams finding a way to win each of those games. The Week 18 game against the Seahawks lost some of its luster after the NFC West race ended with the Rams finishing on top.

When looking at the Seahawks vs Rams stats, Los Angeles has won five games in a row with the Rams winning their last seven games decided by seven points or less.

Bet the Los Angeles Rams to Win Super Bowl 59 (+2800)
