Last Game
Detroit comes into this contest fresh off a humbling 41-25 smackdown loss against the Houston Texans on Thursday night while never coming close to covering the spread as a 3½-point home underdog. Matthew Stafford passed for 195 yards with one TD pass and one interception while ageless running back Adrian Petersen added 55 rushing yards and two scores on 15 carries. The Lions have lost two straight and four of five while failing to cover the spread in each loss.
Head coach Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn were both unceremoniously fired after this latest humiliation. Now, let’s look at the NFL betting odds for the next NFL head coach to be fired.
Stats Pack
Detroit is ranked 22nd in total offense, an encouraging 13th in passing, 27th in rushing and 22nd in scoring (22.9 ppg). Defensively, the Lions are ranked a dismal 29th overall and 26th against the pass, 27th against the run and a pitiful 31st in points allowed (29.8 ppg).
Trends
It’s too bad that head coach Matt Patricia isn’t giving the ball to future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Petersen more this season. Until Sunday, the Lions had won three of four when Petersen carried the ball at least 10 times. Tight end TJ hockenson has racked up at least five catches in four of Detroit’s last six games.

Last Game
Chicago has lost five consecutive games and comes into this game fresh off a 41-25 spanking against the division rival the Green Bay Packers on a Sunday NFL matchup that saw backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky pass for 242 yards with three TD passes, but two costly interceptions. The Bears limited Aaron Rodgers to a modest 211 passing yards, but still gave up four TD passes while failing to record an interception in the loss.
Stats Pack
Chicago is ranked a discouraging 31st in total offense, 23rd in passing, dead last (32nd) in rushing and 29th in scoring (19.6 ppg). Defensively, the Bears are ranked 13th overall, 11th against the pass, 20th against the run and eighth in points allowed (22.7 ppg).
Trends
Chicago has been limited to 25 points or less in eight straight games, but wide receiver Allen Robinson II has recorded at least six receptions in four consecutive games while scoring three touchdowns during the span.

Moneyline
The Lions are 3-9 SU in its last 12 road games and 6-13 SU in its last 19 road games against Chicago. The Bears are 2-4 SU in their last six home games. Chicago has the huge edge defensively, but the Bears can barely score the ball and that makes Detroit a good value pick to get the outright win in this Week 13 matchup.
Point Spread
Detroit has gone 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games following a straight up loss, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against their NFC North division rivals. Chicago has gone 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games following a straight up loss, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games against their NFC North division rivals and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite. For me, Matthew Stafford and the Lions look like a great pick as slight road dogs in this Week 13 meeting.
Over/Under
The Over is 4-1 in Detroit’s last five games and 4-1 in their last five games as an underdog. The Under is also 4-0 in Chicago’s last four games as a home favorite and 13-3 in the Bears last 16 home games. The Under is also 6-2 in the last eight meetings between these two and again, Chicago can barely score these days!
