Philadelphia kept its slim playoff hopes alive with a 27-17 victory over Washington on Tuesday. Over players got the money when Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Greg Ward to make it 27-17 with 7:46 to play, pushing the game past the 42 total. Speaking of pushes, Philadelphia was a 10-point favorite. The Eagles also led 20-10 late in the third quarter.
Injury Report
The team’s backfield took Wednesday off from practice after getting plenty of touches against Washington. Running back Jordan Howard (knee) had 15 carries in his first game since missing two. Hurts (ankle) accounted for three TDs after a one-game absence while Miles Sanders (quadriceps) rushed for a career-high 131 yards.
Betting on the Game
Philadelphia has already exceeded its projected win total for 2021, and the overachieving Eagles have plenty left to play for with the postseason well within reach. Howard’s strong return bolsters the potent backfield. New York’s run defense is toward the bottom.
The Giants are 6-8 against the spread after dropping three straight — ATS and straight-up. Nine of their 14 games have stayed under, including seven of the last eight. The Eagles are 7-6-1 ATS after their Week 15 push.
The under was hammered early in this game as the total has dropped two points since opening at 42½. That number could shrink more if New York’s sputtering offense is taken into further consideration. The under is 5-1 in the last six meetings.
As far as NFL predictions go, the Eagles beating the Giants in a low-total game seems to be an easy one to make.
